In a groundbreaking development, the AI breast screening tool, Mia, has helped detect 12% more breast cancers in the UK, marking a significant improvement in early detection. This AI solution, developed by Kheiron Medical Technologies in collaboration with NHS Grampian, the University of Aberdeen, and Microsoft, has the potential to transform breast cancer outcomes across the country. If implemented nationwide, this could lead to better outcomes for thousands of women and a potential 30% reduction in workload for radiologists. Notably, Mia’s ability to identify cancers, especially high-grade ones, at an earlier stage means earlier treatment and a higher chance of survival. As one of the first patients detected by Mia shared, “It’s a life saver, it’s a life changer.” The AI-driven solution not only boosts detection rates but also minimizes unnecessary recalls, reducing stress and anxiety for patients. This collaboration showcases the incredible potential of AI in healthcare, offering new hope in the fight against cancer. As AI continues to prove its value in healthcare, we're eager to see what other diagnostic applications it will tackle next! #AI #Healthcare #BreastCancer #Innovation https://okt.to/Vc5Efb

Head and neck cancer is on the rise. According to the Global Cancer Statistics, #headandneckcancer ranked as the third most prevalent cancer worldwide, with 1,464,550 new cases and 487,993 deaths. This accounted for 7.6% of all cancers and 4.8% of all cancer-related deaths. Early #detection and precise #diagnosis are critical in improving patient outcomes, yet many face challenges in identifying and treating this complex group of cancers effectively. At WSK Medical, we're dedicated to making a #difference. Our team is continuously working to enhance Zeno AI, our cutting-edge real-time #artificialintelligence solution, to revolutionize the way head and neck cancers are diagnosed and managed. Here’s how Zeno AI is making an impact: Faster Diagnosis: Zeno AI leverages advanced #ai algorithms and extensive data analysis to assist #clinicians in identifying and classifying head and neck cancer. The current version of Zeno AI focuses on the throat, but we are working hard to add the different subregions very soon to cater for the full head and neck. This could mean patients can receive diagnoses earlier, leading to more timely and effective treatment. Enhanced Performance for Clinicians: Clinicians now have a powerful tool at their fingertips. Zeno AI provides real-time support, offering localization and classification of lesions while performing a routine endoscopic examination. This empowers clinicians to make informed decisions and deliver the highest standard of care. Aiming for Better Disease Outcomes: Our ultimate goal is to improve patient outcomes. By integrating Zeno AI into the clinical decision-making process, we're aiming to reduce the incidence of late-stage diagnoses, enhance the precision of treatment plans, and ultimately, increase survival rates and quality of life for patients. Together, we can combat the rising incidence of head and neck cancer. Join us on this journey towards a future where advanced #ai technology and dedicated healthcare professionals work hand-in-hand to save lives. This is a great story from the BBC about recent AI successes in healthcare. An AI tool called Mia was piloted in an NHS Hospital and successfully identified breast cancer signs on the scans of 11 patients - signs which hadn't been spotted when studied by radiologists. Tools like these are good at spotting symptoms of a specific disease if they are trained on enough data and in this case, they are being trained on anonymised patient scans. There is huge potential for these tools to help support healthcare staff with their diagnoses and improve the way we treat diseases in the future. The Mia trial is just one early test, by one product in one location, but there are others on the horizon which we look forward to talking about. https://lnkd.in/eJJYxTkC #AItools #healthcaretechnology #healthcareinnovations

Lung Cancer detection possible 10 Years prior with AI https://lnkd.in/eVB76iqs Lung cancer is a dangerous and contagious disease that spreads throughout the body quickly and is not easy to detect in its early stages. However, thanks to the technology of artificial intelligence-enabled machine learning tools, detecting lung cancer is now possible almost 10 years before its onset. Dubbed as ‘CanPredict’, the AI program helps high-risk patients receive appropriate treatment before the disease becomes deadly. Developed by scientists at the University of Oxford, in association with some professors from the University of Nottingham, the ML tool considers patients’ physical measurements, smoking and alcohol intake status, family history, BMI, and socioeconomic status […]

#AI is a game changer in the fight against lung cancer. By leveraging our AI-powered solutions, NHS England’s Targeted Lung Check Program has seen a stage shift, as the data from the UK government shows 76% of cancers detected were found at earlier stages, that’s stages 1 and 2. This advancement is crucial for better patient outcomes. The Targeted Lung Check Program is a remarkable example of AI’s potential to not only improve clinical outcomes, but to unlock the power of screening to detect disease at the earliest stages. DeepHealth’s end-to-end solutions for large-scale population screening programs – in lung, breast and prostate health – harness the power of AI to push the boundaries of what's possible with imaging technology. As #LungCancerAwareness Month kicks off, help spread the word about the importance of lung screening, and check out the #RewritingCancer video to learn more about how our AI-powered solutions are empowering breakthroughs in cancer screening: https://lnkd.in/evYC_5uW #RewritingCancer #healthinformatics #RadiologyWorkflow #DeepHealth #LungCancerAwareness #EarlyDetection #lungcancer #AIinHealthcare #HealthcareInnovation #Radiology
