On Tuesday evening, Treasurer Jim Chalmers unveiled the 2024/25 Federal Budget. It prioritises cost of living relief and fiscal responsibility. With a surplus of $9.3 billion, the budget addresses tax cuts, cost of living relief, and support for small businesses. Housing, infrastructure, and education receive substantial funding, alongside measures to combat cyber-crime. Changes to HECS and paid parental leave aim to alleviate student debt and address pay inequity. Defence spending increases, but concerns arise over mental health funding. Despite forecasted deficits, the budget aims for economic growth through strategic investments. Federal Budget IQ's Maureen Holohan has a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs budget update with both FY24 final numbers and a look at the FY25 request. Critical to industry is the direction of VA IT spending. "Final FY24 appropriations enacted a reduction of nearly $1 billion to the EHRM program—a rescission of $460 million in prior year funds and a cut of $529 million from Biden’s FY24 EHRM budget." A priority in the FY25 budget is improved customer experience—the "Digital-First CSX“ request is $3.5 billion. Other important details include FY25 budgets numbers for AI, and cybersecurity and Zero Trust Architecture. The article also includes trends for PACT Act funding and some predictions for congressional approach to the FY25 request. #fy24 #fy25 #budget #federalcontracting #federalbudget #congress #houseofrepresentatives #senate #informationtechnology #cybersecurity #artificialintelligence https://lnkd.in/eB3Nuj_2

See the latest Federal Budget IQ post from Maureen Holohan on the VA budget. The final FY24 numbers and the FY25 request reveal some counter-intuitive trends for IT spending due to the ongoing problems with the agency's Electronic Health Record Modernization rollout. The shift in IT resources to other priorities, especially improving customer experience via “Digital-First CX“ for which the Biden administration has requested $3.5 billion for FY25. #budget #federalbudget #veteransaffairs #congress #houseofrepresentatives #senate #federalcontracting #veteransaffairs https://lnkd.in/ew8A2mZR
