By being part of this industry now for almost a decade (!), I've experienced first-hand its magic, versatility and the opportunities it provides. That's not necessarily seen by everyone. We’ve announced our third installment of the Behind the Label report, “Redefining What it Means to Work in the Alcoholic Beverage Industry.” This year's report highlights the fact that many people see the alcoholic beverage industry as a great place to work, but in order to attract the best and most diverse talent, it's important that we prioritize fostering a sense of belonging. Through our research, the report found three categories of misperception in the industry which include - who works in the industry, the types of jobs available, and the opportunities to advance and grow. The good news is, as an industry that is built around social occasions, we have what it takes to tackle these misperceptions. It's important that we continue to foster environments that are inclusive, while communicating and educating about the impressive career paths possible within the industry. All of us who work in Alcoholic Beverages know how lucky we are to operate in such a vibrant and dynamic industry. We know it because we live it, however those looking in from the outside have a different perspective. This is why, with our third installment of HEINEKEN USA’s Behind the Label: “Redefining What it Means to Work in the Alcoholic Beverage Industry” we are highlighting how the industry provides meaningful opportunities for people from all backgrounds, showcasing that diverse skillsets will grow and thrive here.   We found that most people find our industry appealing and forward-thinking, also have misconceptions about the types of roles that are needed and the opportunities for career growth. The alcoholic beverage industry is rich with opportunities that extend beyond sales roles and product development and is not bound by gender, race or area of expertise.    At The HEINEKEN Company USA, we are harnessing our passion for our industry and using it to foster a sense of belonging for all. ✨AGM Debrief: Diageo PLC ✨ Today, our Gen Z Ambassador, Fahad Khan, attended Diageo PLC’s AGM, the global leader in alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. It was an insightful meeting where Fahad had the opportunity to ask key questions about Gen Z’s role in personal finance, capital markets, and investing. The board at Diageo shared that they’re encouraged by the growing interest younger generations are showing in the stock market, noting that individual investors bring a diverse range of perspectives. Diageo believes that younger investors, particularly Gen Z, have a tech-first approach and are drawn to exciting, innovative industries—an area where Diageo feels well-positioned thanks to their strong, consumer-focused brands. They also mentioned their internal programmes that help employees with personal finance, and they’re open to exploring new ways to engage and educate younger individuals on investing. The only downside was that the board members left right after the meeting, missing the chance to interact more with shareholders. One Year at AB InBev: A Journey Brewed to Perfection As I reflect on my first year at AB InBev, I’m struck by the depth of experiences, challenges, and successes that have shaped this journey. Much like crafting a fine beer, this year has been a harmonious blend of complexity, innovation, and fulfilment. Key Lessons on Tap: 1. Harvest Opportunities: Just as a brewer selects the finest hops, it’s crucial to identify and seize the opportunities that will elevate your work. 2. Innovation is Brewing: Never settle for the ordinary. Keep pushing the boundaries to create something unique. 3. Malt-ivate Your Work: Infuse passion into every task, and watch as your efforts transform into extraordinary results. 4. Stand Out Like a Stout: Be bold in your endeavours and strive to make a lasting impact, much like a memorable brew. 5. Stay True to Your Craft: Consistency and authenticity in your work are as vital as they are in crafting a great beer. As I celebrate this journey, I’ve learned to savor each moment, appreciating the process as much as the outcomes.
