The CIS Energy Team just released our flagship paper on the six fundamental flaws underpinning the energy transition. You can read it here: https://lnkd.in/gw4sxKFD Our comprehensive analysis of the flaws in CSIRO’s GenCost report and AEMO’s Integrated System Plan show that: 1. A wind- and solar-dominated grid is not the cheapest option for Australia, and 2. The government is not building the lowest-cost version of a renewables grid. Rigorous modelling using realistic assumptions is essential for any attempt to transition our energy system. If we are to have an evidence-based debate on energy policy, CSIRO and AEMO must address these fatal flaws in their modelling.

💡 The Case for Ambitious Energy Efficiency Targets Europe is at an energy crossroads. 🌍 While renewable energy has rightly taken center stage, energy efficiency—our most cost-effective resource—is still overlooked in EU plans for 2040. Recently, Euractiv spotlighted the EU’s praise for renewables but warned of its weak stance on energy efficiency targets. Without stronger action, Europe risks falling short of its climate goals, raising transition costs, and missing opportunities to: 🟢 Reduce dependence on fossil fuels, ⚙️ Create quality green jobs, and 💰 Save billions in energy-related costs by 2030. The article highlights a critical gap: the need for binding energy efficiency targets. These targets have proven effective in the past and can help steer investments away from expensive technologies like nuclear power and CCS. Instead, they can drive progress toward more sustainable, efficient solutions that benefit the entire EU. 🚀 At Nexus Energy Engineering, we champion these solutions because energy efficiency isn’t just smart—it’s essential. It reduces demand, boosts innovation in renewable infrastructure, and ensures a just energy transition for everyone. 💡 What do you think? Should the EU push for a 2040 energy efficiency target to complement renewables? 📖 Full article linked below! https://lnkd.in/ezEeWJgP Image Credits: NASA Earth Observatory, NASA Photo ID: ISS070-E-75895 #RenewableEnergy #EnergyEfficiency #NetZero #Sustainability #CleanEnergy

Pace of growth helps maintain renewable energy when weather conditions interfere with wind and solarFaced with worsening climate-driven disasters and an electricity grid increasingly supplied by intermittent renewables, the US is rapidly installing huge batteries that are already starting to help prevent power blackouts. From barely anything just a few years ago, the US is now adding utility-scale batteries at a dizzying pace, having installed more than 20 gigawatts of battery capacity to the electric grid, with 5GW of this occurring just in the first seven months of this year, according to the federal Energy Information Administration (EIA). At DLL Solutions we just picked up on the recent phenomenon of negative electricity prices in France due to an overabundance of renewable energy generation. This situation, where surplus solar and wind power leads to negative prices, highlights the urgent need for enhanced energy storage solutions. While it underscores the success of renewable energy, it also presents challenges for future investments in the sector. How can we improve storage capabilities to better balance renewable energy supply and demand? Let's start a conversation in the comments section. #RenewableEnergy #EnergyStorage #Sustainability #CleanEnergyInnovation #EnergyTransition https://lnkd.in/esnDwETT

#Decarbonisation is both a great challenge and a great opportunity for the #energy sector. It is essential that all vectors of the #EnergyTransition advance at the same pace to ensure project viability, price stability and avoid #curtailment. To minimise fossil fuel consumption, it is necessary to triple the production of #RenewableEnergy, such as #wind and #PV, while electrifying energy demand. #GreenHydrogen is a good solution to increase renewable electricity demand, to decarbonise non-electrified sectors or to provide another #storage option in addition to #batteries and #PumpedHydro. Finally, investment in the development of international #interconnections, as well as transmission and distribution #grid, is key for efficient integration. https://lnkd.in/epUNHd-2
