We welcome the Budapest declaration by EU leaders calling for a boost in #EU #competitiveness, for drastically less bureaucracy, and acknowledging the role of #SingleMarket for connectivity. We are looking forward to contributing to the upcoming 2025 EC proposals for strengthening EU`s #digital and #tech capabilities. We hope that the spirit of this declaration, instilling the sense of urgency for changes proposed by the Draghi and Letta reports, will steer the upcoming EU initiatives.

🌍 In 1993, 12 countries joined the newly created European Single Market. Since then, 16 more have joined and three more are in negotiations. Many countries see joining an area where the “four freedoms” apply as a great opportunity for their development, as evidenced by the results achieved in the successive countries that have joined. 📌 The strongest proof of the success of the Single Market is the continuing interest of other countries in joining it. However, to maintain its progress, it is necessary to focus on to regulatory barriers that undermine these "freedoms". For the #EuropeanSingleMarket to increase European #innovation and #competitiveness, deregulation is necessary. For more info click here 👉 https://lnkd.in/dcqxy-2B

You deserve it - your digital twin! My generation (X) has benefited like no other from the good ideas and realisation of the European Single Market. Hardly any other EU country has benefited as much as Germany. Conversely, Europe has benefited from a strong Germany. Despite the well-known crises, the last 30 years have been a wonderful time for my generation. The euro, SEPA and open borders are just a few examples of unprecedented growth and prosperity. But what we have missed is to transport this idea of the European Single Market into the digital world. We have not managed to create a digital and coordinated, holistic EU-wide infrastructure that creates something comparable in the areas of transport, finance, health, telecoms and much more - something that the ‘real European Single Market’ represents today. The (digital) ideas and approaches of the European Commission and the ECB are right and good, but these must not only be thought of as a response and countermeasures against the digital conglomerates and as a defensive battle against overseas. 🔜 We must think ahead independently with our own vision and create a digital infrastructure, a digital twin that corresponds to the world of 1990. 🔜 We should connect the various regulations to each other, also with the ideas of the ECB and other authorities. Regulations must not be considered in isolation. 🔜 These regulations need a centralised digital mission statement and a high-level strategy and architecture 🔜 The initiatives must be conceived and implemented together with the private sector (and vice versa). Complex projects, such as the digital euro, must not just be thought up and implemented in the ECB's quiet chamber. With the eIDAS2 LSPs we already see a possible role model. 🔜 We simply have to deliver. We have to invest. The success of the EU single market has perhaps made us too fed up and too uncreative. Nothing lasts forever history alway taught us. Nobody should assume one could be economically successful in an unsuccessful Europe. ❤️ We owe it to our children and grandchildren. The great economic idea of Europe - Think further! #digitalisation #singlemarket #digitaltwin #europe #innovation #eidas2 #eudiw #economicgrowth #digitalinfrastructure

From open Europe to open platforms 🌍 In a world moving back to trade barriers (China-US, China-EU), the concepts of #openness are unfortunately loosing traction. But neither the success of the #EU nor of #DigitalSignage would have been possible without tearing down political and technological silos, promoting interchangeability, and standardizing rules and regulations. In our latest #invidisConfidential by Florian Rotberg, we show industry examples of how simplifying and opening up can be a formula for success: https://lnkd.in/dcjX7MZc

As the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union begins, policymakers need to smartly regulate with proper regulatory checks, and only where needed. #EUCouncilPresidency #EUCompetitiveness #EUTech On behalf of the global tech industry, here are three clear calls for the new Hungarian Presidency to bolster competitiveness in Europe: https://lnkd.in/gtndfNfJ

For those who haven‘t seen it: the Draghi-Report on the #EU‘s #competitiveness ist out. And it is surprisingly honest. Europe is faltering because it lost focus, overregulated, neglected the single market and lacks unity. I particularly love the chapter on innovation and the clear reference that the precautionary principle (best seen in the misguided #AIAct) is toxic for growth in the digital space. If anything I hope it is a wakeup-call for the incoming Commission. https://lnkd.in/etnK9hVx

Today, the Council is meeting to discuss competitiveness and growth in the #EU. Europe finds itself at another important crossroad if it wants to secure its long-term global competitiveness, help its industries to drive sustainable growth and provide prosperity for citizens. It's time to secure EU industries’ ability to compete globally and preserve the EU single market. How? ➡️ By creating a supportive regulatory environment that provides certainty to businesses with workable timescales and based on appropriate and thorough impact assessments. These might sound as obvious and a “déjà-vu”, but there is still much work ahead of us. 🔎 Find out more about our ambitions and policy asks in our Manifesto 👉 https://lnkd.in/djhd2GzA
