First of all, it is truly amazing and definitely a first for esports that a prize pool is this massive. It is a new height and has the potential to drive the kind of attention the industry has always desired - but also the kind the industry may not be so keen on. There are some other concerns. -Will this really be sustainable event after event? Or are we looking down the barrel of a one-and-done? -How will it be divided? Winner take all? Or split across all participating organizations? -How will matches be governed to guard against match fixing / collusion? This is a problem already with compensation pools that pale in comparison. -And one of the bigger ones… How will this affect the broader esports industry across the world longer term? If some organizations are all of a sudden flush with cash vs some who maintain their status quo, there could be quite the disruption. -The list goes on. Hopefully we can expect the Esports World Cup Foundation to have a deep look at and address all of the major points as they continue to build. Nonetheless, everything that is being announced continues to be exciting, and am looking forward to seeing more unfold. Game on! #esports #gaming #fandom
