Why Google Search does *not* sum up the world’s knowledge https://lnkd.in/gjvS9qZe Search engines are not much help when the topic is, in principle, murky, as with Wired’s IQ and race search. Anyway, use several search engines and rotate them.

I think the points Sundar makes about AI not replacing search but enhancing it is key! AI has always been there, it’s now just able to be used as a more powerful tool to enhance what people have already been doing for a long time… (searching and engaging with Google to get answers from websites and trustworthy sources). #ai #google #seo

Great overview of a very fresh interview with Google’s CEO where he talks about what the future of search looks like. Pretty sure they have access to more data than we do, so probably worth consuming this at face value and making plans from there. https://lnkd.in/gxFYQPtV

Google talks about the future of search. “Search used to be 10 blue links 15 years ago…a more natural continuation, obviously is LLMs and AI. We have more powerful tool we are putting in search, you know with Search Generative Experience and so we’ll continue evolving it in that direction too.” - Google CEO Sundar Pichai Interesting Topic: - Search and AI bias for answers - SGE is not a chatbot experience - Google has provided summarization and direct answers for years - Google has been doing search for a long time, to understand what people like, engage with, and trust. Pat McQueen Arron Chapman and I will be discussing these topics and more on April 25. Register Here: https://lnkd.in/gUBWfwda Yext & Code and Theory

Google's upcoming AI led search results 'Search Generative Experience' are potentially a massive change to how we find things, and also impacting the SEO and digital marketing landscapes - the stir is reaching the mainstream: "The tech giant is rolling out AI-generated answers that displace links to human-written websites, threatening millions of creators" ... "The shift stands to shake the very foundations of the web" What's your thoughts on this? #sge #searchgenerativeexperience #google #googlesearch #seo #searchengineoptimization #ai #generativeai #digitalmarketing

SEOs have entertained themselves with Google fails for as long as Google's been around. The difference this time is how much the broader public – or at least, certain very loud segments of the public – seem to WANT Google to fail. And how that trend is turning some of the more established Google-skeptic voices in the SEO community into mainstream experts. Not saying that's entirely a bad thing. There are lots of SEOs who have unbelievably deep knowledge and insight on Google! The early AI Overview rollout has been legitimately embarrassing! The document leak to Rand Fishkin is fascinating! But notice how much attention is being put on Google “breaking search” versus any alternative vision for what search SHOULD be in 2024 and beyond. I suspect that’s because a lot of the groups who now find themselves allied on the subject of Google bashing – SEOs, journalists, opponents of big tech and/or AI – don’t all actually want the same product. By all means, SEOs should take advantage of this wild moment when the general public is interested in expert Google bashing. But after the dust settles, figuring out how we make people like search again is where things will really get interesting.
