🆘Just a friendly reminder!🆘 When I was 23, I was introduced to whitewater rafting. I vividly remember looking at the raft guide and saying, “Wow, you guys have the best job in the world,” to which she replied, “Well, we’re hiring.” That was all I needed to hear. I applied, completed training, and became a part-time raft guide. Now, 15 years later, I still return to the same river and rafting company every year to relive the magic and safely guide people down the Ottawa River. River guiding has a lot in common with being a working partner in real estate. As a guide, your job is to help people have a great experience—enjoying the waves, splashes, and a few “whoa” moments, without ever putting them in real danger. But just like in investing, there's an element of personal responsibility. Guests must choose the adventure level that fits them—medium, high, or extreme. If you can’t swim, should you choose the extreme adventure? Probably not. No one wants to see someone panicking in a raft while everyone else is happily paddling through whitewater, joking about “not making it.” It’s the same with investing. Sometimes, people focus too much on the potential reward without fully understanding the risks. One of the best ways to mitigate risk is by choosing the investment “adventure” that suits you.
