In May 2023, a leading Asian OEM commissioned us to analyze the cell-to-pack strategy of the Zeekr 009 and the structural battery pack design of the Tesla Model Y. 📊 Our analysis revealed significant findings in three main areas: the cells, cooling plates and venting system. We delved into the evolution of battery design, supply chain strategies, BiW battery integration, cell analysis and arrangement, internal battery connections, and more. ℹ The infographic below highlights some of the insights we've uncovered. This means higher energy storage capacity and improved thermal management within a more compact and lighter battery pack, lower production costs and increased vehicle range. 👉 The structural battery pack (SBP) design integrates the battery cells directly into the vehicle's body, serving both as an energy source and a structural component. By embedding the battery cells into the vehicle's frame, the SBP enhances the rigidity and strength of the vehicle while optimizing space utilization.
