I've received 40+ prospecting emails since updating my job title on LinkedIn a week ago and only 1 outreach truly made me feel something... 🚨 Sellers, your buyers are emotional human beings 🚨 Don't send me the generic email with no personalization Don't reach out and have your first sentence be "Hope all is well" Don't have your subject line say "{{Your industry + Catalyst}}" because I'll just delete it on the spot 💡 Sell to pain, sell to ego, be creative, show your ability to connect!!💡 Do send me an creative email that proves you understand my role & how to make my job easier Do send me a video showing me your personality & pitching the need other sales leaders have with your offerings (This was the only outreach I responded to) Do come up with a catchy subject line that makes me WANT to open your email I know it's tough out there right now - use that as even more of a reason to get creative, have fun & standout in your outreach!!

Using LinkedIn to connect with decision makers? You need to stand out. Which contact request would you respond to? Decision makers get lots of connection requests. Pretend you got the request you just sent out. Would you respond? LinkedIn isn't a sales tool - it's a conversation. Make it such. Make it about them, not about you. Which of 1. 2. 3. would you accept? Why or why not? (I accepted all of these, btw, and messaged them individually. Making a conscious effort to connect with and message everyone. Got a backlog to work through. Sorry if you're waiting.) P.S. Yes, taglines matter. No, they aren't relevant to this post. No, no one did anything wrong.

They care about how you can solve THEIR problems, not your company history. 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 2: 𝗕𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝘃𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 Use meaningless buzzwords like "innovative" and "transformative". Don't clearly explain what you actually DO or the benefits you provide. Why it fails: If your prospect doesn't understand your offer within seconds, they'll move on to the next email. Why Outbound Alone Won't Get You Enough Leads I've spent the last 3 years learning outbound prospecting and see many experts sharing tips on cold emails, cold calls, and LinkedIn outreach. These methods are great, and I fully support them. Outbound is cost-effective, scalable, and you can reach anyone with the right message. BUT... Posting regular content builds your authority and credibility, which leads to people reaching out to you. I've seen this firsthand by posting straightforward content on LinkedIn and YouTube. You can: - Build relationships - Establish trust and credibility - Attract potential clients - Reach a wider audience - Get appreciation for your work While outbound is effective, you need some content to support it. You don’t need a large budget or a content team to start. Just share what you're working on and what you know. There's no need to reinvent the wheel. Lastly, imagine you and your competitor have the exact same product, features, and pricing. It’s been an insightful two months since we ventured into cold email outreach. Here are our top learnings: 1. Identify your prospecting channel. ↳ Determine the most effective source to find your ideal prospect. For example, we’re not using Apollo, ZoomInfo, Wiza, etc. as they are highly saturated. 2. Utilize technology to detect buying signals more efficiently. ↳ Set up various crawlers and social listening to identify if companies are actively searching for the solutions you offer. Check company hiring trends. If a company is hiring, especially in areas related to your services, it’s a good sign they might be expanding and in need of your solutions. 3. Personalizations. ↳ While intriguing, coffee images with name personalization don’t always hit the mark. 4. Ask for a small commitment. ↳ Start with a soft CTA. Asking for a small commitment can lead to bigger things—remember, no one commits to a partnership at the first encounter! 5. Iterate and optimize. ↳ Constantly test different strategies to refine your approach. Would love to hear other experiences and tips on cold emailing!

Do you ever do cold outreach? Cold calling potential customers? Believe it or not, I used to do a lot of this back in the day. When I was studying marketing, I had a side job at a call center. I was learning marketing and sales at the same time, and it completely shaped my mindset about acquisition. Early on, I learned how to do cold outreach the right way. When I started 20 years ago, the phone book (Golden Pages) was literally GOLD for me. I set up so many meetings and met so many business owners. Plus, the marketing projects I landed fueled my growth. So, does cold outreach still work today? Let me tell you… If the world zigs, zag. While everyone else is shifting online, cold calling can really make you stand out. And if you know how to make a genuine connection over the phone, you’ve already won half the battle. A caller is quicker—so if you want fast results, pick up the phone. But hey, if cold calling isn't your thing, don’t worry. There are plenty of strategies today that can work perfectly for you. Approaching things from a different angle can make all the difference. Writing cold emails to potential clients not much fun or easy Commenting on LinkedIn profile posts from potential clients much easier "Remember in business everything has to be as hard as possible otherwise your are not doing it right" 😉 Here's the thing, nobody loves writing or receiving emails from unknown contacts. But we can flip that scenario by simply reacting to their LinkedIn posts. When they reply to you, that's your golden ticket to start to build a relationship ⚠️ Just remember, refrain from rushing into sales pitches! (NB: Remember, this is about connecting and engaging, not about sales pitches!)

Here is my Guide To Becoming A Great Prospector. (Share this in Slack and execute ASAP) 1. Know Your Avatar Study the market you are looking to serve. • Do a Google search on your industry • Look at your competitors' website • Read job descriptions to know your personas Make your prospecting relevant by being relevant. 2. Create Messaging This is the hardest part of outbound. What are you going to say that will make you stand out? • Create test messaging for the buyer persona • Reverse engineer the problems that your buyer persona faces • Send messaging to your internal leadership and strong customers to get feedback The stronger your messaging, the more responses. 3. Your Channels Find where your buyers live and target them here. • LinkedIn • Outbound email • Cold calls Once you know your channels, start sending out messages to see if they are for you. 4.
