When someone asks me to give a talk on how to build a successful startup, I decline the invitation every time. Why? - I haven't changed life of enough consumers. - The startup I am associated with does not meet all the criteria to be called successful. - I have experienced the startups uncertainties but need to experience many things. I believe I can speak about: - How to begin your entrepreneurial journey when you are in college? - How to network and get benefits from it? - How do you attract your first clients? - How can one produce content? - How should one respond to setbacks? I strongly believe that we should limit our knowledge to the things we have firsthand experience with. Best example to understand this is you can't tell someone every time how to be a good parent until and unless you are a parent or have seen/ had experience of raising a child in your family. #entrepreneurship #startups #talks #experiences #journey #creators

Believe it or not, the skillset required to start a company is different from the one needed to grow it. In the beginning, you have to put your head down and block out all the naysayers. To scale and grow the company, however, you need to be open to advice and follow a strategy. This is why many people start businesses, but few manage to stay in business long-term. Your gift might be starting businesses, not growing them – and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. People who are truly gifted at startups recognize that while starting a company is their forte, growing it might be someone else's strength. The perfect match for a startup entrepreneur is finding the right person to take the company to the next level. This individual might have resources or prior knowledge that the founder doesn't possess. And you know what? That's perfectly fine. Follow me on X @JesseBrownFAE #Consulting #startups #business

Before you start your business, side hustle or quit your job to pursue a startup idea. Address these 4 Red Flags. 🚩 I see many first time founders start a business for the sake of starting, being brainwashed to think startups are cool. It is a romanticised industry and sensationalised experience. Don't get me wrong it is very rewarding and you will learn and grow as an individual. However that growth only happens when you stay the course and keep going even when the business gets tough and taxing. First time startup founders who drop off too early in their journey don't really learn anything, no real mistakes, no battle scars nor experiences to draw from. I learnt more about myself and how to run a business only in the third year of starting and running my former 6 year $10M startup. The really tough moments and your decision to keep going and solve for those issues, are the moments you really discover yourself not just as an individual but as an entrepreneur. Good luck - you got this. Don't give up. 🤜 🤛 The full video on Youtube is linked in the comments below. That is where I host my long form raw videos for those curious. 𝗟𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗽𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘂𝗽𝘀. LinkedIn is often filled with stories of success— billion-dollar deals, successful funding rounds, and happy business meetings with amazing outcomes. What often goes unshared are the hard times when nothing seems to be going right despite your best efforts. In the startup world, there will be moments when things don’t go as planned. It’s natural. Your hard work might not be as rewarding as expected. You could even end up back at square one despite giving it everything. Entrepreneurship is messy - own that reality. Because those low points can often be the most valuable lessons in the long run. #Coach #Startuplife #Business #Lows #Entrepreneurship

Linked In must think cos I'm a founder I want to hear VC's and their advice. The level of advice they dish out is straight from the school of the bleedin obvious. Can't they get a bit more original? These are some of my favourites. [1] The No1 reason your startup fails is cos nobody wants your product - Like wow that is such genius, I never thought of that well done! [2] Gain traction first - again genius, never crossed my mind that one [3] Test your product with customers - aaaahhhhhhh seriously I decided to start a business and my plan was to never speak to a client about the product. [4] We want scaleable businesses - yeah another great one, thats like saying I want a job because I get paid. Seriously. [5] Don't ask us for NDAs - to be fair this is about the only decent one I see, but still why is their explanation about it so high and mighty. Give it a rest. Some real insight and stories would be better I might like a few then. #founders #startups #entrepreneurs

🚀 From Onion co-founder to you: Lessons learned the hard way💡 This is me (Michael) 6 years ago. Excited, passionate, wet behind the ear.. As a 2x founder and someone who’s had the privilege of working across 4 early-stage startups and businesses, I’ve picked up my fair share of battle scars, "aha" moments, and lessons that came the hard way. 💬 What’s in it for you? Over the next 4 weeks, I’ll be sharing honest, bite-sized, actionable insights twice a week—stories from the trenches, things I wish I’d known earlier, and things that actually worked (some so valuable that they kick-started the idea for the Onion). Whether you're an aspiring entrepreneur, startup enthusiast, or just curious about the world of early-stage businesses, these posts are designed to inspire and (hopefully) save you some headaches. Expect: ✅ Practical takeaways ✅ Some hard truths ✅ A sprinkle of humor—because entrepreneurship is wild! Stay tuned to learn (and laugh) together🎉 👉 Follow the page so you don’t miss out over the festive period! #Startups #Entrepreneurship #LessonsLearned #SharingEconomy #StartupTips
