The root of the Sikh faith was laid by Guru Nanak DevJi born in 1469. Today marks his birthday (kinda like Sikh Christmas if you like). This quote is one of my favourites from the Japji Sahib- the Sikh morning prayer composed by him. Why? Because it’s a gentle reminder in the morning that so many of our fears, doubt, limiting behaviours and misgivings are born from within our minds. In short, the biggest barrier to our success is often ourselves. And it’s no surprise given that we think 60,000 thoughts a day! To conquer our minds isn’t to reject them or ignore their contents. Instead, conquering our minds is akin to a tree flowing through the seasons and knowing when to: 1. Let go or shed the things don’t serve you; 2. Nourish and focus on the matters that enable your growth; 3. Be still and rest; and 4. Letting life bloom without fear or attachment. For me this weekend I’m going to try and focus on resting and reconnecting with the roots of my being. To those celebrating, Happy Gurpurab. 🙏🏼 And to everyone else, especially those whose minds may be feeling a bit overwhelmed by work or home or everything in between- I wish you a peaceful weekend. 💛 #sikh #conqueryourmind #success #positivethinking #gurpurab
“Man Jeete, Jag Jeet” - I love this phrase so much. Taking stock of your mind can help you rationalise your day ahead and give you perspective. Thanks for the reminder!
