This term refers to the sexual and emotional attraction towards digital technologies, including holograms, artificial intelligence, and robots. People who identify as digisexuals find satisfaction and companionship in relationships with these digital entities. The phenomenon of digisexuality raises questions about the nature of our connections and the authenticity of our emotions in the digital age. Is it possible to feel love and empathy for an artificially created entity? The AI-generated women presented in this portrait series reflect the ongoing evolution of our emotional relationships. These digital relationships can offer emotional refuge and a form of satisfaction that some people do not find in traditional human relationships. Between 2008 and 2019, only 2% ($4 billion) of the $196.6 billion spent at art auctions was for female artists' works. High-end art shows a stark contrast; while Leonardo da Vinci's "Salvator Mundi" sold for $450 million, the highest for a female artist is $44.4 million for Georgia O'Keeffe's piece. Contemporary records also highlight this gap: Jeff Koons' "Rabbit" sold for $91 million, whereas Jenny Saville’s “Propped” fetched $12.4 million. Research from 1970 to 2016 reveals female artists' works sell for 42% less than male artists'. Despite the disparities, there are emerging signs of improvement for female artists. Increase in Interest for Female Artists ✔ Despite bias, interest in art by female artists is growing, with prices reflecting this trend. ✔ BBC reports that secondary market prices for female artists' works are rising 29% faster than for male artists. ✔ Art Basel and UBS surveys show a rising representation of female artists in high-net-worth collections: 40% in recent surveys, up from 33% in 2018. ✔ Tacit (online gallery and art consultancy dedicated to female artists) notes increased interest in diverse art. Clients request broader representation, including female, artists of color, and LGBTQ+ artists. ✔ Tacit is optimistic about younger generations shifting art collecting preferences, focusing more on emerging and diverse artists over traditional blue chip art. Works by female artists are becoming promising investments, available at discounted prices and appreciating faster than those by male artists. Whether due to collectors seeking higher returns or genuine appreciation, this trend offers more opportunities for female artists. Ram Alladi: Women are cosmetic placeholders in my movies In the world of cinema, where stories unfold and characters come to life, the portrayal of women often falls into the trap of being mere cosmetic placeholders. Filmmaker Ram Alladi has never been shy about expressing his controversial views on this subject. In his movies, women are often reduced to roles that are defined by their appearance rather than their depth, making them little more than accessories to the male protagonist’s journey. Ram believes this reductionist approach diminishes the full potential of female characters in storytelling. Instead of being fully realized figures, these women exist primarily to serve the plot, or the visual spectacle, with little regard for their inner world, motivations, or struggles. However, this approach has sparked heated debates in the industry, where many argue that his perspective brings attention to the lack of substantial female roles in mainstream cinema. I resent the way society is structured, I resent the way prehistoric beliefs are still prevalent, I resent the ignorance and attitude of some people, I resent the interpretation by some of Human Rights, I resent box ticking, I resent lip service. I refuse to be a part of the problem, I refuse to stand by and watch, I refuse to accept the status quo, I refuse the mindset of Government and the super rich. I advocate for equality, I advocate for true diversity, I advocate for true inclusivity, I advocate for ability first, I advocate for mind set change. Because it matters to me. The reason I set up CorValu, pronounced Core Value, Photography is to help the game changers, the companies, organisations, firms and further education show what they are doing to change the system, to change the status quo by being positively taking action to increase the equality, diversity, inclusivity and accessibility in their organisations, not ticking boxes,not lip service, the action takers.
