Commonwealth Bank, one of Australia's largest banks, is trialing an AI chatbot called Hey CommBank, which could potentially replace thousands of call center staff. The chatbot, currently being tested on bank employees, uses conversational AI to assist customers with queries, like advising on how much to save for a house. This is part of CommBank's broader push into AI, utilizing Amazon's AI Factory to enhance services. While the bank employs 2,400 call center workers who handle 50,000 calls daily, it's unclear how many jobs might be affected. ❓Time to be AI-fluent? Insurers and fintechs are signaling a greater willingness to pay more for AI-fluent employees. 📗A recent study by Arizent titled “Unleashing the Power of AI” sheds light on the banking sector’s engagement with artificial intelligence. The findings indicate a modest penetration of AI technology within the industry (only 37%). Notably, AI adoption is predominantly seen among larger banks holding over $100 billion in assets. ❗️A majority of banking professionals expect that AI adoption will ultimately impact the nature of jobs in the industry without greatly reducing the number of jobs. ‼️Banks will probably face competition for AI-fluent tech talent from adjacent industries such as insurance and fintech. 🔥 Generative AI and LLM are among the hottest topics (don`t forget that not all generative AI tools are built on LLMs). We may try to understand and analyze its success. As for me, it has happened due to media “support” 🤔 . As usual Why do I think so ❓ Generative AI and LLM has been used for many years. Even we at IBA Group have already developed several tools for banks and are working now on so called next generation AI chatbot for banks and fintechs for customer support and internal center of knowledge. Here is a nice picture of a platform for banks and fintechs we are working on – yes, it also has an AI chatbot that will enter several markets this year but the 1st step will be to test the idea on Product Hunt. But let`s discuss one simple question – do all banks and fintechs need such a tool to support customers and that also acts as a corporate knowledge hub? My answer is NO ❗ . It is clear for me as a former banker that we may use 2 approaches to communicate with customers: ☑ Non-standard approach ☑ Standard processes 1️⃣ The 1st approach is used by investment-banking companies, small banks with “specific” business models, boutiques (it can be even payment boutiques, IB, M&A …) + don’t forget about large banks that also offer non-standard services and so on. 2️⃣ While the 2nd approach can be automated using AI tools – most of services for small and mid-sized businesses (corporate banking) and almost all services for private individuals, in some cases we may also talk about wealth management and investment banking. So, it can be a good tool for large banks and fintechs that need to reduce customer support costs and increase customer satisfaction ratios – yes, AI helps to do it, most of standard services have clear rules and communication matrixes + try to use AI for internal corporate needs. I think that NVIDIA market capitalization will keep growing – ChatGPT has already pushed it, and it`s time for enterprises and fintech to start gptization 😅 Diversify customer support models and increase customer satisfaction ☝ Besides, what do you think about the attached below screenshot of online banking app with integrated AI support tool developed by our company❓ It was not an easy task 🤣 smartbanking is not so easy but it inspires to keep working on the platform...
