Our new paper argues that we are looking in the wrong places for public sector productivity gains, and consistently failing to find them. In researching the paper, I was quite shocked by how poor our current productivity measures are. We can make real productivity gains across public services, by looking through a strengths-based lens at what - and who - creates value in public service interactions. Innovative leader in Clinical Quality Assurance, Clinical Compliance and Clinical Quality Analytics, utilizing the synergy between all three domains to proactively identify and mitigate issues in clinical trials.
Even more insightful sessions in the #RQA virtual conference 2024. Just chaired 2 sessions with; - Pekka Tiikkainen, who presented on "IMPALA update and details of the recently released Clinical Trial Anomaly Spotter (CTAS) open source package". This tool can be used by functions such as Clinical Quality Assurance for choosing sites for audit or for Clinical Monitoring groups to spot anomalous data at investigator sites. Fascinating talk and a great initiative from Bayer. Now also a collaborative effort within IMPALA (Inter coMPany quALity Analytics). - Haleh Valian PhD on the topic of "Use of AI in Regulatory Intelligence", where AI is being piloted to review changes to pharmaceutical regulatory guidelines and see if there are internal documents such as SOPs which need to be updated as a result of the changes and what those changes could be.

My favourite bit of the newsletter is the 'Did you know?' section! One of the questions submitted for our new FAQ page was "I'm an e-resources librarian and I really value normalised metrics. How can I persuade more publishers to offer COUNTER reports?". If you've been wondering the same thing, here are a few things that you can do to boost COUNTER compliance from your publishing partners: 1. Ask them: some may simply not know that you want these metrics 2. Include a requirement for COUNTER reporting in your license agreements (there's some standard terminology in section 10.1 of the Code of Practice). 3. Collaborate with your fellow librarians to help show just how widespread the demand for COUNTER reporting is!
