I’m so glad to have joined my local Lions Clubs International group. Our most recent initiative was a food drive in collaboration with Rotary International, collecting much-needed donations for our local food banks. It’s a powerful reminder of how much good can come from a community coming together. 💙 This year, I’ve admittedly felt a bit lonely at times—an unexpected side effect of being an entrepreneur. It’s not something most business owners talk about often, but feelings of isolation are very real. It's important to find strategies to stay connected. If you’ve felt this way too, I can’t recommend volunteering enough. Joining a local community organization has connected me with incredible people and given me the chance to contribute to meaningful causes. It's also fun!! One of the many positives was experiencing the generosity of others, in many cases from people who are having their own struggles. A homeless man who told me he needed to use our local food banks offered me a muffin and drink while I was standing outside collecting donations. A heartfelt thank you as well to our local Metro Inc., FRESHCO, LTD. and Longo's for participating in this program. Remember, giving back can also give us a sense of belonging. 💛
Your experience beautifully highlights the dual impact of giving back—both on the community and personal well-being. How do you suggest entrepreneurs can balance their work with community involvement effectively? On a different note, I’d be happy to connect, please feel free to send me a request!
Glad to hear how volunteering with Lions has benefitted your day-to-day mental health! It's the small actions that make big changes 💙
