The downfall of smart, talented strategists - thinking they’re at their prime. Brand strategists get a bad reputation for acting like they’re the smartest person in the room. Not only does it hurt their ability to influence and persuade, it stunts their career growth and potential. You can ALWAYS improve these skills, no matter how good you think you are at them: - building better presentations - communicating with different stakeholders - leading meetings - boiling down your insights - crafting the perfect executive summary - understanding different perspectives Be open to feedback, pay attention during workshops/trainings, and never, ever stop learning. Asking the right questions is more important than providing the right opinions.
This is why I love Copilot right now. It’s a forcing function for you to iterate and ideate. And after a productive session learning from it and the process, even if you don’t get exactly what you were hoping for, you feel like you’ve grown your brain just a little bit. 🤓

7moThe downfall and trapping of any person who is talented and experienced. I was taught years ago to think of yourself and your abilities, not as expertise, or as an expert, but more of accrued learnings, a practitioner’s mindset - much like a way a doctor or surgeon needs to constantly stay on top of medical learnings and breakthroughs, in order to maintain a level of relevance and excellence.
