Digging Deeper: True stories behind the Gold Rush: 2024 Commercial Remote Sensing Global Rankings Episode 1: How did the China Siwei Survey and Mapping Technology Co. Ltd. Superview-Neo-1 remote sensing system earn the 2024 Gold Medal in Electro-Optical imaging quality? Let’s dig deeper. In 2021 there was only one commercial imaging system in the world that could collect 30cm imagery—the U.S. Maxar WorldView-3. Today there are six (!) constellations capable of that same high-resolution imaging. The difference in performance came down to daily collection capacity.   China’s Superview-Neo-1 (01/02) is actually a two-satellite constellation capable of 1.5 million square kilometers (sqkm) of 30cm imaging every day which was the most of any commercial imaging constellation.  However, the world will soon see U.S. Maxar Technologies WorldView Legion on the commercial market with a six-satellite constellation capable of imaging even more area at a 29cm resolution. This market is moving quickly! Who else will enter the competition?
