When GPUs become the most-wanted, tremendously scarce resource AI companies need to win the race, having a large stash of them puts you definitely in a strong position (and if you are a VC, it gives you an edge in accessing the fastest-growing startups).

#VC funding for various #AI ventures continues at a torrential base. With the stratospheric investor returns delivered by the rise of NVIDIA, which has created more than $2.5T in shareholder value over the past decade, everyone wants to be part of the next big AI #semiconductors company. According to Crunchbase, AI semiconductor and software startup Groq knocked down a $640 million Series D round last week at a valuation of $2.8 billion. The round was led by funds and accounts managed by BlackRock. The Mountain View, California-based company is developing ways to optimize AI and reduce the computing power its currently requires. The new financing round almost triples the company’s valuation from its Series C in 2021. Founded in 2016, the company has raised $1 billion. No word on current customers or revenue traction. #startups, #innovation
