🚁 Top 5 Mistakes Drone Pilots Make When Starting a Drone Service Business 🚁 Starting a drone service business can be exciting, but it’s easy to make some common mistakes that can slow your progress. Here are the top 5 mistakes new drone pilots make when launching their business: Skipping Proper Licensing & Regulations – Not obtaining the necessary FAA certifications or understanding local laws can lead to hefty fines or worse. Stay compliant! Underestimating Insurance Needs – Flying drones without adequate insurance is risky. Ensure you have coverage that protects both your equipment and clients. Overlooking the Importance of Marketing – You might be great at flying drones, but if no one knows your business exists, it won’t grow. Consistent marketing is key to gaining clients. Failing to Set Competitive Pricing – Pricing too low undervalues your service, and pricing too high can scare off potential clients. Do market research to find the sweet spot. Not Investing in the Right Equipment – Starting with subpar gear can affect your work quality and reputation. Invest in the right tools for the job from the start. 🔍 Want to avoid these pitfalls and learn how to grow your drone business successfully? Let me know how I can help you be a success. Drone insurance, drone and operator registration, pilot training and flight registration - all of this is standard procedure for drone pilots who want to fly with a clear conscience and be part of the community in a proper way. Why insure a drone? When flying a drone there is always the possibility that something can go wrong. So as a pilot, you are responsible for everything that could happen as a result of operating the drone. You should minimize all risks. 🚑 Drone insurance gives you coverage in case of damage or injury caused, as a result of operating the drone. Insuring drones is not only a good idea, but also a need to become legal when flying your drone. What's next? Friday FAQs ❓❓ “We have a few drone pilots in-house but they lack experience. Could you sell us the hardware and train up our guys to be able to do execute the operation?” Regardless of the industry, this is a question we get all the time, and it totally makes sense. I’m going to answer this by summarising our business model - and I apologise to Mrs Davies, (our CEOs mum) because I’m going to steal her wording 😃 If you’re business has a problem that requires a drone, but you have the pilots and the experience we can engineer the drone and sell it to you. If your business has a problem that requires a drone, you have the pilots but lack the experience we can engineer the drone, sell it to you and offer training, support and maintenance. If your business has a problem that requires a drone, and you don’t have the pilots we will provide the drone, the pilots and execute the service for you. Safe to say we are fairly agnostic when it comes to finding a solution that works for you, which is why we’ve structured our business into 4 pillars - Sales, Services, Engineering and Training. Each arm can operate on its own or in conjunction with one or more of the others depending on the needs of our clients. If you’re keen on having a quick consult with one of our pilots, get in touch by emailing [email protected] or DM us and we’ll be in touch. #Drones #DroneTraining #DronesForGood

The total cost to pursue a survey drone pilot career in India is represented as up to ₹14.5 Lakhs, which includes: 👉Training costs, 👉Drone acquisition, 👉Equipment, 👉Consumables, 👉Insurance, and 👉Operational expenses For those looking to go beyond piloting and into entrepreneurship as a survey drone entrepreneur, the costs would encompass not only the aforementioned expenses but potentially additional investments in business-related aspects such as marketing, advanced equipment, and potentially a larger fleet of drones or specialized software. The exact additional costs for entrepreneurship would depend on the scale and scope of the business but are likely to be above the costs for individuals simply aiming to become drone pilots. #drone #dronepilot #dronesurvey #india #survey

yesrts.com | PRICE GOUGE ALERT. We have been alerted that a company we work with has been subject to price gouging by a company named DRONE NERDS. It seems like they raised prices for their purchasers after already agreeing no a price. Please be sure to share this because margins are already thin in the government contracting arena, and raising prices after a contractor wins a bid is costly. Thank you James Lemmon for highlighting this situation. #NationalEntrepreneurshipMonth #PriceGouging #SmallBusiness #SDVSOSB
🚨 Industry Alert: Price Gouging and Integrity Issues with DJI Wholesaler Drone Nerds 🚨 As many of you know, the DJI import process has faced increased scrutiny, with U.S. border delays impacting inventory across the market. Unfortunately, some distributors have used this as an opportunity for price gouging, and it’s disappointing to share that Drone Nerds, a DJI wholesaler, has done just that. Here’s what happened: As a small business and service-disabled veteran-owned small business (SDVOSB), VETBZ LLC placed a $77K order with Drone Nerds for a government contract—paid in full, with an agreed delivery timeline. After waiting five weeks with no updates, Drone Nerds suddenly demanded an additional large price increase due to "lack of inventory." This left us with a difficult choice: pay more or risk losing both our order and the funds we’d already paid. Drone Nerds effectively held our money and drones hostage, showing an alarming lack of integrity in their treatment of small businesses. For contractors like us, price hikes mid-contract are not just financially burdensome—they make us look bad to our clients. We cannot go back on our bids or change the price we’ve promised. Price adjustments in the middle of a contract only undermine trust and damage reputations. We are fighting this price increase and holding Drone Nerds accountable for their actions. We’ve reported these practices to DJI and the BBB as it’s critical to prevent similar unfair treatment of other small businesses in their distribution chain. If your business has been taken advantage of by companies like Drone Nerds please let me know or report it to DJI. Small businesses rely on partnerships with ethical, reliable suppliers, especially when fulfilling contracts with tight budgets and timelines. It’s deeply disappointing to face this kind of behavior, and we hope for better industry standards. #VETBZ #PriceGouging #IntegrityInBusiness #SmallBusiness #SDVOSB #GovernmentContracts #DroneIndustry #DJIDRONES #DJI #BBB
