Euro 2024 Final: Beauty vs. Grit - Can England Upset Spain? Who Will Win Euro 2024? Spain or England? Spain vs England | Berlin. Sunday | #EURO2024 The stage is set for a captivating clash of styles in the Euro 2024 final. Spain, the tournament favorite, boasts a dazzling possession-based game and cruised through the group stage. England, on the other hand, has taken a more dramatic route, battling back from deficits in all three knockout games. While Spain seeks a record-breaking fourth European title, England craves its first ever. This isn't just a game; it's a narrative waiting to be written. Spain's journey has been one of dominance and aesthetic brilliance. Their convincing wins and attractive style have them labeled the clear favorite. However, questions linger. Did their comfortable group stage lull mask underlying weaknesses? Can they maintain their dominance against a resilient England side? England, meanwhile, has embodied the spirit of the underdog. Despite a less challenging path to the final, their victories haven't been convincing. Scrappy wins, late goals, and penalty shootouts paint a picture of a determined team that refuses to give up. But is this resilience a sign of strength or a concerning lack of fluency? Manager Gareth Southgate finds himself at the center of the debate. England's pragmatic approach, prioritizing results over entertainment, has drawn criticism. Can Southgate adapt his tactics to unlock Spain's possession-based dominance, or will England's defensive approach finally falter? This final is more than just a battle for the trophy. It's a clash between philosophies: Spain's beautiful game versus England's unwavering resolve. Can England defy the odds and silence their critics, or will Spain's dominance finally translate into a historic victory? The answer lies on the pitch in Berlin on Sunday.

The group stage of UEFA EURO 2024 is over. We have seen some surprises (e.g. Georgia), but also some teams that have fallen short of their own expectations or disappointed in sporting terms (see England). The round of 16 brings us some interesting matches, but also discussions about the mode of organisation. Is it justified to progress as one of the best third-placed teams in the group but with fewer points than a fourth-placed team? Take the Slovenians, for example, who progress with 3 points, whereas Ukraine are eliminated with 4 points. Or should Germany have lost in order to have the apparently easier route in the tournament and not have to face Spain in the quarter-finals? Provided both win their next game. Or is it not rather the case that you have to compete with the best teams if you want to win the title? What good is it for to get far with an average performance against "weaker" opponents only to be shown my limits later on? Did I write weaker opponents? This is not meant to be disrespectful. The teams in Europe have grown closer together and the overall quality has improved. Georgia clearly demonstrates this in this tournament. So why not increase the number of teams to 32? This would not detract from the quality. We would then have teams like Sweden or Norway (with Haaland) in the competition. Let's move on to the games: SUI vs. ITA is certainly a match of equals. Although I think Switzerland have a slight advantage here. GER vs. DEN is an interesting game. Denmark is always good for a surprise (see Euro 1992). If Germany improve on their last game, nothing should stand in the way of them progressing. ENG vs. SVK another match at eye level. The game could go into extra time. England will have to improve enormously if they want to progress to the next round. ESP v GEO should be a clear-cut affair on paper and based on the Spaniards' previous performances. However, Georgia showed against Portugal that they are always good for a surprise. Nevertheless, this should be the end of their journey. FRA vs. BEL is a match that all football fans can look forward to. Both teams still have room for improvement. We shouldn't be surprised to see extra time. My tip: penalty shoot-out. POR vs SVN is difficult to predict. Portugal will have a lot of anger in their stomachs after their defeat by Georgia and won't underestimate their opponents. Maybe Ronaldo will get the knot and decide the game in Portugal's favour. ROU vs. NED will be a match of equals. The Dutch have shown that they can come back after setbacks. The game will remain open for a long time, but will be decided by a goal just before the end of the 90 minutes. AUT vs. TUR is seen by some as the top match. In my opinion, the Turks are being made out to be stronger than they are. Austria are the clear favourites for me. In terms of commitment, tactics and cohesion, they are certainly one of the top teams at these European Championship finals. #euro2024 #football

The first round of group stage matches has just wrapped up at UEFA #Euro2024, with #Portugal getting a 92nd minute winner to avoid a shock defeat to the #CzechRepublic. That means its time to share our forecasts for the second round of group stage matches and to review how the Dectech forecasts are faring after twelve matches... We forecast the correct result in 9 of the 12 games (75% versus 33% random chance). The average probability we assigned to the actual outcome was 49% (versus 33% random chance). While most of the big teams came through their opening match as expected, the biggest upset of the round was #Slovakia's win over #Belgium - we gave that outcome just an 11% probability! In the second round of group stage matches, we expect to see #Portugal and #Germany comfortably progress to the knockout stages, but some of the other top teams face tougher tests. Two tasty fixtures to look out for are #Spain versus #Italy and #Netherlands versus #France. #England won't have an easy game against #Denmark, but I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that they do enough to win. The hardest game to forecast is #Slovakia against #Ukraine, though we think the latter just have the edge. With 2.8 goals per match so far, its been an exciting start to the tournament. Here's hoping that continues! ⚽ ⚽ ⚽ #dectech #football #prediction #Euro2024
