As an insurance broker owner, I vividly recall the last-minute rush for to make sure everyone's continuing education credits were completed by the deadline. Over time our processes improved, leading to a more proactive and less chaotic approach. This also brought our team members value by being exposed to important and applicable content, instead of taking courses just to get the hours. Here are some tips; 1️⃣ Plan Ahead: Meet with each team member to identify key knowledge areas for CEU focus. If you have allocated a budget for brokers, share that and include that in the plan. 2️⃣ Research Course Providers: Create a list of trusted course providers tailored to your team's needs. Consider asking carriers what they have planned for CEU accreditation, and whether they might customize for your brokerage. 3️⃣ Time Management: Allocate time throughout the year for CEU completion and offer support along the way. For example, blocking an hour per month to focus on courses. 4️⃣ Knowledge Sharing: Encourage team members to share key takeaways with peers to foster collaboration and learning. Bonus - this can help with communication skills when brokers give presentations to their peers. 5️⃣ Record Keeping: Keep records throughout the year so that you can monitor to ensure that everyone is on track.
