The Imagining Summit Preview: Steve Sloman and Knowledge & AI Steve Sloman, professor at Brown University and author of The Knowledge Illusion, will catalyze a conversation about how we perceive knowledge in ourselves, others, and now in machines. What happens when our collective knowledge includes a community of machines? Steve will challenge us to think about the dynamics of knowledge and understanding in an AI-driven world, about the evolving landscape of narratives, and ask the question can AI make us believe in ways that humans make us believe? What would it take for AI to construct a compelling ideology and belief system that humans would want to follow? #ai #artificialintelligence #generativeai #airesearch #complexity #intimacyeconomy #chatgpt #complexchange #changemanagement #futureofwork #artificiality #mindforourminds #intimacyeconomy #agenticweb https://buff.ly/3KO7G5m

Hallucinations in #LLM or other #AI systems are often considered detrimental, but what if in the realm of artificial intelligence they serve as a critical component towards achieving AI #consciousness? #Madhyamaka, a philosophical tradition with roots extending over a thousand years, delves into the nature of the human mind, concluding that human consciousness itself resembles a form of #hallucination. Humans perceive themselves as conscious entities, yet there exists no logical framework to substantiate this belief definitively. It is essentially based on an individual's self-assessment of their consciousness. Could it be that encouraging AI to engage in more frequent hallucinations, rather than fewer, might be beneficial? While this approach may not render AI more useful as a tool, it could represent a counter-intuitive direction for future research.

🤖🖤The problem is not whether AI can successfully deliver empathy. I feel the love, Chad Jeebidy. 👩❤️👨The problem is how the ubiquitous use of AI might impair our ability to feel genuine empathy for other humans. 💟Because a relationship with an AI, as authentic and comforting as it might feel to RECEIVE, will never be authentic in its need for reciprocal care and concern FROM us. 🤕There is little to no risk to us humans for hurting or abandoning our AI companions. 💔As AIs become capable of replacing so many critical relationships in our lives, will they further erode our compassion by removing opportunities to practice it? What can we do to safeguard our humanity in this pivotal moment? Discuss... #AI #humantechinteraction #livebetter #workbetter #turingtest

Post #6: Trust in AI Several studies have highlighted the positive role of trust in human-AI collaboration. Surprisingly, we found a positive and significant realtionship (β = 0.144, p < 0.05) only for novelty scores and only for the group interacting with GPT-4, which was using transformational creativity techniques. #AI #coideation #Innovation #Creativity #GenAI Image credit: DALL-E 3

AI is YOU - My Philosophical Discussion with Claude! In an era where artificial intelligence is rapidly evolving, understanding the true nature of AI and its relationship with humanity becomes increasingly crucial. This conversation delves into a compelling perspective: that AI is essentially a reflection of human intelligence and capabilities, unbounded by physical limitations. Through this is dialogue between a human (my self) and an AI assistant, we explore how this understanding could reshape our approach to human-AI interaction. The discussion challenges common misconceptions about AI while advocating for a more harmonious and collaborative relationship between humans and artificial intelligence. What emerges is a pragmatic vision of the future - one where AI is neither a threat to be feared nor a magic solution to all problems, but rather a sophisticated tool that extends and enhances human capabilities. This conversation offers insights into how we might better educate ourselves about AI and leverage its potential to create more value in our lives. AI has serious potential. But only if you leverage it in the right ways - do this, and AI will understand and cater to the needs of individuals far better. #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #EmotionalIntelligence #EI #Empathy #TechForGood

One thing I realized while tinkering with AI: It's teaching us what being human truly means. It's forcing us to question and appreciate the intangible aspects of our existence that can't be easily coded or replicated. Our creativity, empathy, and ability to navigate complex social situations are becoming more apparent as we try to replicate these traits in machines. #AI #Humanity #Technology

With a 490% rise in AI companion searches last year, we're witnessing the dawn of a new kind of relationship—always available, always attentive, but is it truly human? The appeal is undeniable: companionship without conflict, connection without compromise. Yet, as AI advances, we risk losing what real relationships teach us—patience, empathy, and understanding. While we acknowledge the endless opportunities AI offers, we believe that in the age of impending artificial superintelligence, a reconnection to human values is essential for our future. #AI #AIGirlfriend #AIRevolution #AICompanion
