Interviewing for an executive position in 2023: -Qualification call w/ recruiter or hiring manager -Interviews -Case study -Offer/No offer Interviewing for an executive position in 2024: -Qualification call w/ recruiter or hiring manager -30 minute RT "REAL TALK" by a leader at the company who is going to give you the good, the bad, the ugly -Candidate gets to choose whether or not they can optimistically embrace the challenges and has a true understanding of the role, requirements, and what they would be stepping into -Interviews -Case Study -Offer/no offer I am winding down one of my fractional engagements and helping the CEO backfill a VP of Sales. After the qualification calls/intros, I spent 30 minutes talking about all the things I love about the company and what the challenges are. No holding back. At the end, I asked the guy, do you still want to move forward with the interview process? He said absolutely! Even when candidates get to ask questions at the end of an interview, they aren't getting the full, honest picture of everything going on. By implementing this one simple step, it will allow for long-term success on both sides.
