Amazing news! DARTCC has received our 2nd consecutive #grant from The Irving and Phyllis Millstein Foundation for Animal Welfare. This Animal-Centered Philanthropy® bestowed a generous $75,000 grant in 2023 and a $40,000 grant this year. This additional grant will help us to continue developing the Emergency Animal Shelter platform (EASApp) in several crucial ways, delivering the following to volunteers and teams: -- An easy-to-understand mobile solution to streamline the care of animals at a disaster shelter. -- A central platform to manage volunteer and team profiles, memorandums of understanding, and shelter data. -- A platform to train, test, and deploy an emergency shelter for animals and document their care. -- Detailed reports and data exports for local, state, and federal requirements “We are deeply grateful for this second grant. The continued support will help us launch EASApp this fall and demonstrates the tool’s potential value for others.” -- Deb Shelby, founder of DARTCC The Foundation has our most heartfelt and deepest gratitude. #innovation #technology #Animals #AnimalShelter #funding #grantfunding #nonprofitorganization #disasterpreparedness #disasterpreparedness #DisasterRelief #Disaster #disasteremergencies #climatechange #climatechangeisreal #animalwelfare

Any corporate donors mission-aligned with animal welfare, the transition to plant-based diets to impact our health & our climate, or just brands with an affinity for cute pig content? Read this: https://lnkd.in/eiGyCmVY The Big Barn at The Mini Mountain Farm Sanctuary is at capacity, and our two smaller barns are not ready for winter. We've been able to raise and deploy resources to get our rescued farm pigs off of a publicized abuse case their winter barn set up, but the potbellies are still out in the cold with temperatures dipping close to freezing. We rescued them from an animal hoarder who forced them to live through a New York winter without shelter and our promise to them was that we would keep them warm this year, and for the rest of their little lives. Frankie & Sonny here are two of the four potbellies who's three sided barn needs a fourth side and some critical improvements to make it draft free and save for the impending winter storms. We're looking for individual and corporate sponsors and every dollar helps. #animalwelfare #veganprofessionals #veganprofessionalnetwork #vegansanctuary #animalsanctuary #farmsanctuary #pigrescue #animalrescue #futureoffarming #plantbased #mushroomfarming #nonprofit

The Elmina B. Sewall Foundation seeks to create a healthier and more equitable Maine, where all people, animals, and environment thrive. The Foundation’s Animal Welfare Grants provide support to animal shelters throughout Maine, primarily through one-year operating support grants of $15,000 to $40,000 per year. Support is also provided for efforts working at the intersection of social services and animal well-being, including service and therapy animal programs, social service or other community organization-based programs that support animals to stay with their families and out of shelters (e.g. pet food pantries), programs that support families and animals together in times of crisis (temporary sheltering for animals and people facing domestic violence or other disasters), and those that otherwise address social justice issues as they pertain to animals. (Support for cat population control is provided to organizations which the Foundation has supported for cat population work in the past three years.) Call 516.410.4895, or email [email protected] for a free fee quote to have us write your entire proposal, or edit your draft, for a reasonable flat fee. https://lnkd.in/e4N7xbhy Bev Browning Holly Rustick

For #PhilanthropyFriday we’re checking out Michigan Animal Rescue League 🐾 The Michigan Animal Rescue League (MARL) is one of southeast Michigan’s most established animal shelters, serving the community since 1953. Their history and experience combined with constant evaluation of trends in animal welfare and sheltering have made them a necessary and respected asset within the community. As, “A Different Breed of Shelter” they challenge the stereotypes of traditional animal shelters and believe that the, “Quality of the Wait,” can make all the difference in the future of an animal!❤️ The Mission of the Michigan Animal Rescue League is to provide the highest quality of life to dogs and cats through rescue, medical care, socialization and behavioral support, short- and long-term sanctuary, adoption, and community education and outreach. Adjusting to the shelter environment can be hard for dogs and cats. While MARL’s staff and volunteers make every effort to make their temporary home welcoming, the shelter is still often a place where dogs and cats find themselves confined in an unfamiliar environment, separated from their previous families, and exposed to much more noise than they’re used to. This is where MARL’a enrichment program comes in! Enrichment is a term that describes how shelter environments can be adjusted and enhanced to better benefit each animal. The goal of enrichment is to minimize stress levels by adding different kinds of stimulation and activities to each animal’s daily routine. The National Rescue Dog Day on May 20 brings with it a promise of love, friendship, and kindness. Each year, millions of animals, specifically dogs, are abandoned by their owners and end up on the streets. Many of these animals are used to a sheltered life, which makes it difficult for them to fend for themselves out in the world. Food sources are hard to come by. Moreover, humans and other animals also threaten these abandoned animals. Animal welfare organizations step in to help by providing shelter, home, etc. Many of these organizations also encourage people to adopt dogs to get a new home and create more space for other dogs in the shelters. Adopting, or even just fostering, helps people and animals in the long run. 🐶🐾 ❓: Have you adopted/fostered a dog? #NationalRescueDogDay #ZempelInsurance #RescueDogs #LakeMills #LakeMillsOffice #LakeMillsInsurance #AnimalWelfare #AdoptDontShop #FosterDogs #DogLovers #PetAdoption #ShelterPets #RescueAnimals #LoveForAnimals

📈 Rising Costs for NYC Animal Care Centers: A Growing Concern 🐾 Recent reports highlight a significant budgetary challenge for Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC). The organization, responsible for sheltering and caring for the city's stray and abandoned animals, has seen its budget nearly double in recent years. This increase, driven by rising operational costs and higher demand for services, underscores the need for sustainable funding solutions to ensure the well-being of both the animals and the dedicated staff working tirelessly on their behalf. With the ACC's budget ballooning to over $80 million annually, there is a growing urgency for city officials and stakeholders to address the financial strain and explore innovative approaches to managing and funding animal welfare programs. Balancing fiscal responsibility with compassionate care will be crucial as the city continues to navigate these challenges. We want to give a shout-out to Independent Animal Rescue based in Durham, North Carolina. Independent Animal Rescue (IAR) is a non-profit group in the Triangle region of North Carolina that works to provide homes for hundreds of unwanted cats and dogs each year. Their mission is to rescue cats and dogs in need and reduce the suffering of unwanted animals through their adoption and community programs. IAR believes they can alleviate problems associated with dog and cat overpopulation and abandonment using a 3-pronged approach: (1) Rescue and adoption of unwanted and abused animals; (2) funding and providing spay/neuter services; (3) education and outreach on animal welfare to the community. The eCIO team is privileged to work with the IAR to build a lasting investment program that will support its important mission. #nonprofit #investmentmanagement #endowmentmanagement #enduringinvestmentprograms

🌟 Celebrating Animal Shelter Appreciation Week 🌟 This week, we honor Animal Shelter Appreciation Week—a time to recognize the vital role that animal shelters and rescue organizations play in our communities. These dedicated teams work tirelessly to provide safe havens for animals in need, offering care, rehabilitation, and ultimately, the chance for a forever home. Shelters are not just places for animals; they are hubs of compassion and advocacy. The staff and volunteers invest countless hours in nurturing and training animals, educating the public about responsible pet ownership, and promoting spaying and neutering initiatives. Their efforts not only save lives but also strengthen the bonds between people and animals. As professionals, we can support these organizations in various ways: 1. Volunteer Your Time: Many shelters welcome volunteers for various tasks, from animal care to administrative support. 2. Spread Awareness: Use your platform to highlight local shelters and share their needs, whether it’s supplies, funding, or foster homes. 3. Consider Adoption or Fostering: Opening your heart and home to a shelter pet can make a profound difference in their lives and yours. Let’s take this opportunity to show appreciation for those who dedicate their lives to animal welfare. Together, we can foster a culture of compassion and responsibility towards our furry friends. Share your own stories of shelter involvement or tag an organization that’s making a difference in the comments! #AnimalShelterAppreciationWeek #AnimalWelfare #Volunteer #AdoptDontShop #CommunityImpact
