Not another ghosting post 👻 but here's my two cents. A few weeks ago AIR Allies in Recruiting held a panel discussing the current talent landscapes. Here are some insights I wanted to share: 📈 With a new average of ~500 applicants per post, you're seeing less and less LinkedIn job posts as it's almost impossible to screen every applicant. Check the company careers page instead. 🤖 Automatic - AI written replies have become the norm, as a response to the volume. What's worst, sometimes the AI will auto-reject great candidates. Do your best to reach out to the talent team or ask for referrals to ensure you get real human eyes on your applications. 🌿 Slowly but surely, companies are turning back to external recruiters versus simply posting the role to help them find top talent as a result of the volume. Check your LinkedIn messages, you might be missing out on some great opportunities! 💡 A "no-update update" is better than no update at all!! Not only does it hurt your employer brand, it isn't fair to candidates. 👉🏾 Talent teams are humans too, we are often waiting to hear back from hiring managers. Don't be afraid to send a nudge as a follow-up (my unofficial rule is to give it about 9 business days). 📝 Feedback is crucial, and if you have interviewed with a company, great Talent teams and recruiters will share context and feedback with you. 🏁 In the past 18 months, we are seeing a record number of candidates backing out at the offer stage often due to: - Lack of transparency on salary at the onset - Unclear expectations for "hybrid" work environments - Poor candidate experience. My approach has always been simple, lead with a human lens keeping the candidate experience in mind at EVERY step. Whether a candidate gets the job or not, I strive to leave each candidate conversation with advice to help them into their next conversations whatever that may be, and a smile on their face.
