Over 50% of Healthcare leaders state that accuracy, data privacy, and data integrity are among their largest concerns when implementing AI - What exactly does that look like? 1. Re-Identification of Anonymized Patient Data - AI systems have the potential to use outside information to reidentify an anonymized patient in different contexts, a clear HIPAA violation and a huge risk for providers. 2. Inadequate Data Governance - With multiple entities involved in handling healthcare data (for example, the hospital group, insurance provider, third-party vendors etc) if data governance policies on data usage, retention and sharing are not up to scratch, patient data is at a high risk of being utilized without the appropriate consent. 3. Secondary Use of Data - Any data that is collected and used within an environment using generative AI applications is at risk of that data being utilized without the proper consent in place. 4. Ethical Concerns & System Bias - AI systems can and often do incorporate statistical bias, from the datasets they are trained on, which over time have been proven to lead to discriminatory practices that can impact patient equity and privacy. This being said, the potential for advancement in patient care when using AI appropriately in undeniable and I believe should be given every chance to succeed...With the appropriate guard rails in place. #aiprivacy #aigovernance #privacy

Wow! What an amazing 2 days spent at the Eyes-Off Data Summit. A lot to think about from legislation to application of AI. Privacy was at the centre of the Summit and protecting data using PETs.
