A look at how Technical.ly is experimenting with AI tools via Lenfest's Solution Set newsletter: https://lnkd.in/eWGY78M9 Grateful for Hayley Slusser for following up (so diligently) on a presentation I gave on this earlier this year and turning it into this informative article. And thank you to the Lenfest Institute for Journalism for supporting this work (stay tuned for the ebook I'm putting together with Christopher Wink with even more details and tips). A lot of what you read about AI in news is at the national level. For local orgs, some of the considerations are different. But there's plenty small newsrooms can do with these tools — including using them to better connect with people in our communities. Really! The tech is not going away, so we might as well try to use it for good.

  • Screenshot of text that reads: “Journalists have been creatively applying technology tools to the trade since before the printing press, from the telegraph to broadcasting equipment to pocket-sized recording devices to spellcheck. Technology has leveled the playing field and increased access to the profession,” Henninger said. ... “It’s the integrity of the information and the sources and the reporter and editor and publication that matter, not the tools used to put that info into digestible, understandable form. For journalists, and really for all people, reputation is the most valuable thing we have.”
