We need more Māori pilots… Mīharo pai te kite i tēnei kaupapa o Araraurangi | Air New Zealand Air NZ’s new Cadetship - Mangōpare - opens up the door to streamline the pathway for pilots. To think that you can be in the right hand seat of an ATR after 15 months of training is exciting. Whilst getting the opportunity to travel to the States and Dubai and pay only 1/3 of the costs. It’s an opportunity that can’t be missed. Ko tāku - how do we encourage and ensure more Māori apply for, and become successful in this program? Who’s paving the way to encourage our Rangatahi? What supports are available during this kaupapa to transition our Rangatahi from a “Kura Māori environment” to an “overseas advanced learning environment”? Applications close 7 July 2024. Whakanuia i o tātou rangatahi Māori kia uru ki roto i tēnei kaupapa. More info here: https://lnkd.in/dY9UeGNZ #AupikiTravel

📢 Introducing Our Team: The people behind BeCA Welcome everyone! It’s Meet the Team Monday! 👨✈️👩✈️ We’re excited to introduce you to the talented Pilots who make up our team at BeCA This week, we’d like to introduce you to CPT Christiaan van Coolwijk: My name is Christiaan van Coolwijk and I started flying at the age of 16 after a career taking me from the USA to Hong Kong I joined then ACE Freighters now Challenge Airlines Be as a direct entry captain on the B747. Over the last years I worked as a simple line captain just flying the queen of the skies and enjoying my time to the fullest, as nobody knew how much longer the 747 would be around (pre covid). As I am writing this the hours on the Queen and the A330 are almost equally divided but the B747 is still my favorite aircraft to fly among all the aircraft that I have flown B190, E120, E170, B738, A330, JS31/32) I became a pilot representative in 2022 for the pilots of Challenge Airlines and being completely new to this expanded field (which consisted from compiling the complaints to operational issues to our management. As Belgian labor law is slightly different than the Dutch labor law I joined ACV Pulse for some guidance on this subject. As I was slowly getting my head around all the smaller and bigger differences between Belgium and Holland a new Challenge rose on the horizon. Being a Belgian daughter company of an Israeli group gave meaning to our slogan “Challenge accepted” as we continued flying into and out of our existing network destinations. I am happy to say that together with our management we came to a working solution to keep the flights on a voluntarily basis. This operation however had us dealing with GPS spoofing and being a BeCA committee member gave me access to information to a lot of data from other operations experiencing GPS spoofing helping me to inform our pilots about this new phenomena. The current level of GPS spoofing definitely raised the question about reliability of GPS and RNAV approaches in the years to come and the role systems like EGNOS could help us mitigate these problems.#BeCA #belgianpilot

"Human factors have been identified as the key area in which significant gains in safety is possible" I truly believe this and even though BRM training is well established in maritime there is still, I think, a problem with applying that knowledge gained and effectively embedding it into everyday bridge operations. In my opinion, we need more regular training and access to bridge simulation coupled with regular peer led assessments of bridge operations. This is what we are doing at Kilo solutions with our virtual reality bridge simulator. We are able to take the simulator to the seafarer. VASCO is a multi user environment and the individuals making up the bridge team, as well as the instructor, can be located individually at any location in the world with a wifi connection. We are successfully delivering BRM refresher training to clients worldwide. It opens up a whole new world of possibilities to address the human element in bridge operations. #humanfactor #bridgeoperations #VASCO #kilosolutions #brm
Human factors have been identified as the key area in which significant gains in safety is possible. Since 2019, together with leading civil aviation trainers CAE , the UK P&I Club has provided aviation-standard human factors training to its Members. The courses are run at CAE’s global flight training centres: EasyJet Gatwick, Singapore Airlines, JetBlue Orlando and Aegean Airlines, and provide high quality learning materials, which can be used for initial, refresher training or in parts to emphasise particular human behaviour training needs. Upon completion of the 2 day course, participants (ordinarily made up of Members’ training managers, DPAs, senior HSEQs) can sign up and obtain access electronically to the computer based modules and training materials. These materials can then be adopted partly or fully into their existing training programmes. Our next course is at Aegean Airlines, Athens and runs from 18 to 19 November. Places are limited and so if interested please contact my UK Club colleague Captain Konstantinos Karavasilis Thomas Miller

KLIA first opened on 27 June 1998, some 28 years ago. For such an old airport building ✈️ and our transit, 🚂 train is yet to re-operate, I’m indeed surprised we are winning so many awards. I hope this is not another year-end award night sponsorship event. According to ACI’s ‘Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Global Performance Departures Passenger Satisfaction Report: KUL Benchmark Performance, Third Quarter 2024 (3Q 2024)’, KLIA scored a perfect score of 5.00 based on a scale from 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent). This score also means that KLIA has officially surpassed the ASQ Global Average score for Overall Satisfaction of 4.32. This is thanks to the airport achieving 5.00 across several categories, when compared to 4.88 for the Custom Panel Average, 2.77 for the Asia-Pacific Average, and 4.42 for airports handling over 40 million passengers every year https://lnkd.in/gZsheKag

The TAP Airbus A321neo landed nose-first as the pilot battled with the infamous swirling Madeira winds while attempting to land at Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport (FNC) [which was named after the Madeiran native famous footballer #CR7 in 2017]. Madeira is famous for its strong winds, which can challenge even the most experienced pilots during their final approach. #PilotSkills #AviationChallenges #CR7 #aviation #airbus320neo
