I've been quiet for a couple weeks whilst I'm getting stuck into my new role, but, anyone whose been connected with me a while knows I can't stay quiet for long. 🤐 So, why have I made the move to Raise the Bar Speakers? It wasn't easy saying goodbye to a team I'd grown to love over the past 2 years, but as someone whose constantly trying to learn and grow, I've been fixated on a Japanese term I've recently learnt, "Ikigai" which roughly translates to "a reason to live". I've referred to the term a lot and completed all sorts of exercises on it from webinars, and found that I want to make a change to the way people learn. 💡 I learn differently to a lot of people, and it's a struggle I've worked incredibly hard to overcome. It's something I've aimed to incorporate into previous job roles and is definitely the part that kept me happy. There's no greater feeling than seeing someone you've helped succeed. 💪 At Raise the Bar, the company is all about Learning & Development which is something I can truly be a part of. There are different ways to do this through our Development Programmes and Management Apprenticeships, but for me, getting to see so many incredible Speakers & Global Experts provide advice from their own unbelievable journeys and stories is completely eye opening and allows me to learn so much. There are well over 800 speakers to choose from, all specialising in their own niche topics, and so far, I've managed to take away something from every session I've watched in under 2 weeks. 🤓 For a taste of what the speakers can offer, we have a dedicated webinar page : https://lnkd.in/gXaFbSxN What else is there to say, other than ENJOY! (oh, and drop me a message to learn more) #speakerbureau #raisethebar #globalexperts #learninganddevelopment #developmentprogramme

(Apologies for poor hyperlink practice - I can't find a way to do multiple accessible links in a Linkedin post!) If you'd like your Future Teacher Christmas presents (seven free participative webinars for 2025!) now is the time to put the last Thursday of each month (13:00 – 14:00 UK time) into your diary! This is what we’re planning: 30 January - Stimulating learner participation and engagement 27 February - Developing fluency with digital tools and resources 27 March - Designing appropriate assessments 24 April - Designing and creating online learning activities and resources 22 May - Inclusive practice 26 June - OER and Open Source 23 October - Cultivating lifelong learning habits in FE, HE, work-based learning and apprenticeships. These present opportunities for you, your colleagues and your institution. Our core principles include commitments to nurturing good practice, developing community and providing a supportive environment to showcase innovative (and sometimes unknown) practitioners. With 15 minutes to present, then time for discussion, it’s not onerous and it’s a friendly, constructive community. We’re after pedagogically sound, digitally enhanced practice designed to maximise inclusion and engagement. We encourage speakers to include the student voice in their sessions. If any of the following apply please get in touch via the Jiscmail mailing list (https://lnkd.in/eUN9zYUW) or fill in your offer on our call for speakers form (https://lnkd.in/esFm6M3N). 1) You are a practitioner and you’ve focused on one or more of the above themes in your practice and have some reflections to share? This could be a good opportunity to gather evidence for professional portfolios. 2) You support and develop teaching colleagues and one or more of them is doing excellent work in one of the above themes and deserves wider recognition? 3) You support a community of practice and you are looking for opportunities to take good practices to a wider audience? 4) Your institution does great work but it’s not widely known and you’re looking for a chance to remedy that? And finally, if you would like to support us as a Future Teacher volunteer, we’d love to expand the team. It’s a great way of keeping up to date with developments as you plan sessions, make links across the sector and share expertise. Get in touch through the mailing list or reach out to any of us through the “About us” links on the website (https://lnkd.in/e4m-aAKZ). Your Future Teacher volunteers (Sian, Rosemarie, Teresa, Ron, Lilian and Alistair) PS. Have a great Christmas and try to take a break from technology – take some time to swap screens for candles and mince pies 😊

🎒 New School Year, New Resolutions! 📚 With the start of a fresh school year, I’m kicking off a personal goal: posting on LinkedIn every week (let’s see how long I can keep this up!). This week has been BUSY! Schools are back in action, and we’ve been fielding a ton of calls – some from those with last-minute tasks they didn't get around to before the break, and others ready to tackle their shiny new To-Do lists. 📑 For those who don’t know, we’re a small but mighty team! 🦸♂️ Even though many think we’re a big company, we keep things lean, and a number of our team members work term-time only. So, this week has also been all about catching everyone up on everything that happened over the summer. And wow, what a summer it’s been! 🌞 We’ve rolled out some amazing FREE assessment content for our software. Rebound Therapy is already live, and keep an eye out—our Sounds of Intent and PECS frameworks are coming soon! We’re also making headway on our SEMH framework, and I can't wait to share more about that! You will find lots of other little changes to our websites. There will be updates to our software next week with lots of new features including the ability assess progress in Connecting Steps, from Evisense. I know this feature has been on everyone's feature request list for a while, but it is almost here! 😁 Earlier this week, I had the chance to get back out there in person! 👋 I was in Hammersmith delivering my first in-person training, at the start of the school year, since COVID hit. Our training is mostly online, saving schools money. But, it made me think of the “good old days” when we’d be out visiting schools in person every September, spending a whole week on the road! Things have changed, with online meetings being the new norm, but the shift has also been schools getting set up well ahead of time, which we’ve found works a lot better. 💻✅ And the midweek highlight? On Wednesday, Abigail Hawkins (FCCT) and Gavin Hawkins from Sensible SENCO stopped by the office for a catch-up. Always great to see them! They also shared some fantastic news: we’ve been nominated for an Education Today award for ‘Best Supplier of ICT Software’! 🏆🎉 Please take a moment to vote for us (and for Sensible SENCO in their categories too!). Here’s the link: https://lnkd.in/eyJ7fJuw September is always a great time to reflect and plan ahead—both for what we’ll be delivering to our schools and some exciting new projects we’ve got brewing. 💡 And personally, this will be my first full year back as a school governor, having taken on a role at a local special school earlier this year. Super excited for what’s to come! Here’s to a fantastic school year ahead! 🍎
