When it comes to resolving construction disputes are you a Kevin McAllister or a John McClane? WARNING: this post contains spoilers and may require a detailed knowledge of Die Hard and Home Alone! In the two greatest Christmas films of all time (not subject to debate), the main protagonists have a very different approach to resolving their conflicts. McClane (John to his friends) bumbles his way barefoot through repeated clashes with Gruber's henchman. Often on the defensive, John is forced to react and constantly think on the spot e.g. launching himself off the roof of Nakatomi Plaza while tied to a fire hose (not sure what wall plugs he thought were securing that reel?!). A weary and battered John ultimately defeats Gruber with only the very last of his ammunition, riding his luck right to the end. McAllister on the other hand is a born strategist. His battle plan was meticulous, and perfectly predicted every move of his opponents, with traps set to impede them at every step. OK, there was a little bit of a bump in the road towards the end there but his preparation and tactics ensured the Wet Bandits were ultimately subject to justice. So consider, when it comes to your construction claim or dispute, are you bumbling through, reacting to the other side at every turn? Or are you the one with the meticulous battle plan, designed to keep you one step ahead of the opposition. Having a well-considered strategy is often the key to "success" (context needed) and ensuring your disputes can be resolved as appropriately and efficiently as possible. Of course, there can be unexpected events that pop up during your dispute (time to channel your inner John McClane), but being well advised and prepared with a clear strategy can mean the difference between having to run barefoot through broken glass or zip-wiring your way to safety. #occonstructiondisputesadvent2024 #OCConstructionDisputes
Definitely John McClane!
Speaking as someone who would die on the hill of Die Hard being a Christmas movie, and also has watched Home Alone probably 100+ times (currently very much enjoying my daughters getting to know it too!) - this is the best advent post!
Classic Cashmore....chucking a tool chest down the stairs in correspondence!
Definitely more of a McAllister when it comes to planning, but let's hope we don't need McClane's heroics!

2wThe obvious question then is who would win a show down between John and Kevin? Yipee ki-yay, ya filthy animal…”
