How long to get all recruiters back to work? Data: 300k people laid off in the past 18 months (mostly from tech companies). 30% of those layoffs were HR, DEI, recruiting. Extrapolation: If half of those 30% were recruiters, that means 45,000 recruiters on the market. Supportive Opinion: If you are a recruiter and have been out of work for a while, this is why. LOTS of strong competition. Daunting opinion: It may take a year to get all recruiters back to work, IFF tech is truly turning the corner. Strategy: What makes you different? What skills do you have outside of HR/Recruiting that make you more valuable? What is your UVP (Unique Value Proposition)?

My feed this week is filled with the unfortunate news of hundreds of talented professionals caught in a layoff at Employbridge and ProDrivers. While the #staffing industry is competitive, foremost we're a community. When you're ready to make your next move, consider the following: -Take a moment to prioritize what you want in your next role, being specific about what you're looking for can help you come out of this feeling more fulfilled in a future role. Just because you've found yourself tied to a specific role for many years, doesn't mean that's where you have to stay. -Ensure your resume is up to date with keywords optimized for ATS and SEO search benefits. -Join some LinkedIn groups for the industry. I know a lot of Recruiters have had to deal with a lot of job security issues the past 4+ years. It's really a structural issue for finance teams who want to do layoffs then hire contractors as it increases revenue per employee. Additionally it creates "float" where they can pay a vendor like us for example net 90 and then lend out that cashflow to make interest to the banks at 4-5% annually. The modern corporate structure will be more volatile for FTE Recruiters and if you're looking for stability an RPO Recruiter, Contract Recruiter or even being payrolled through Job Mobz has proven more stable than in-house options the past 4 years.
