There is power in a great employer branding 💙 I remember when I started creating my own marketing firm after designing our service strategy, business model, and all the other things… One thing that I was left to do was to hire people that will help me drive the business forward. But do you know what my biggest problem at that time? I was low on funds and couldn’t really afford to pay my people premium and in their asking price. I thought about “why don’t I use the same strategy when I am trying to close a client to when I am doing my headhunting and interviews” — share them a vision. 6 months later, with a handful of people in my team and generating over 6-figure MRR, I asked them “why did you chose MZX and your job over the others that can pay you more?” Their answers were all the same — because they want to be part of the vision of the company. Employer branding is more than just showing how great the culture is and the life of the people within the company. But it’s mostly about communicating what kind of impact your company wants to do for it’s market and to their businesses and how this vision will affect them in their life. The great thing about applying the right employer branding allows your company to filter out who’s coming at your door to apply. What's the most overlooked skill that a Founder or Early-Stage CEO needs? In my opinion, it's the ability to recruit! Many great start-ups struggle to grow because their CEO doesn't know how to sell the vision to potential candidates. Often they talk about product features and technology rather than the values and purpose of their business. Great talent needs to be sold to! So, when you're interviewing - paint a picture of the journey and show the candidate how they'll make an impact. Get it right, and they'll more than likely join you for the ride!
