It's not often you get a chance encounter with one of the most influential people in the history of your industry, but having Martin Cooper stop by your office on a random Thursday is probably the highlight of my year so far.
It's truly remarkable how chance encounters can inspire and reshape our perspectives. Martin Cooper's contributions to the industry are profound, reminding us all of the potential impact of innovation and perseverance. What key takeaways do you hope to apply from this experience?
Once upon a time, there was a man with an idea and a dream!
In 1965, while in college, he wrote a term paper about his idea.
His professor thought it was improbable and gave him a "C" on his paper.
He joined the Marines and learned the values of discipline, teamwork, and a single minded mission mindset.
He never forgot about his idea and dream to make it happen.
In 1971, the young man started his business in Little Rock, AR.
In 1973, he moved his business, to Memphis, TN and officially began operations.
On April 17, 1973 his business delivered 186 packages to 25 cities.
That young man with an idea and a dream:
Frederick W. Smith / Federal Express Corporation / FedEx
The rest as they say is history!
There are many stories like this, but they usually have some common themes.
*Mindset: Single-minded focus on what you are trying to accomplish
*Action: Nothing happens until you take action
*Discipline: Stay on course and avoid your own self-limiting beliefs, or how others say it can't be done
*Perseverance: Trials and tribulations are inevitable; how you respond is what matters
What else would you add?
What's stopping your idea from becoming your realized dream?

Steve Jobs once said: "The secret of my success is that we have gone to exceptional lengths to hire the best people in the world."
No matter how great the idea or product, it's ultimately the people behind it who determine its trajectory.

Jack Ma once said, 'When Selling to close friends and family, no matter how much you're selling to them, they will always feel you're earning their money, no matter how cheap you sell to them, they still wouldn't appreciate it.'There will always be people who do not care about your Costs, Time, Effort, they rather let other people cheat them, allowing others to earn, then supporting someone they know. Cause in their heart, they will always be thinking, 'How much did he earn from me?' instead of "How much did he SAVE/MAKE for me?"This is a classic example of a poor person's mentality!Jack Ma on Sales: 'When doing Sales, the first people who will trust you will be Strangers, Friends will be shielding against you, fair-weather friends will distance from you. Family will look down upon you.'The day you finally succeed, paying the bill for every get-together dinner, entertainment, you will realised: Everyone else is present except the Strangers.

🌟 Meet Lisa Oswald 🌟
She investigates public discourse in online environments and explores the crucial role of digital media for democracy.
Lisa says: "Public discourse is really essential for any democratic system, because it is the basis for public opinion formation and eventually for political action. Therefore this is relevant for all of us. And at the same time, we see that it undergoes dramatic changes through the digital transformation."

Not a political post, just an observation on my own profession: this NYT piece does a good job of illuminating an often frustratingly opaque process -- namely, who gets picked in an executive search, and most important, why.
For all the (many) times I'm asked by a board chair or CEO about Bridge Partners - Executive Search's data-based or science-led methodology for identifying candidates, when it comes down to it, the final choice between finalists invariably comes down to "rapport," "comfort-level," or "vibe." Seems my anecdotal experience found application at the Naval Observatory, too: "For Ms. Harris, it was an instinctive reaction to an instant connection rather than a data-driven exercise[.]"
Regardless of your political persuasion, there's good information in this article about the decision making process at the highest levels -- what human elements are at play versus so-called hard skills and experiences -- and most interesting for me, there are great observations on candidate anxiety and behavior, including things that might turn off a hiring authority. (Hint: Questions to the hiring team are good, they show interest and engagement. Too many questions are...not always good.)
It seems important to start with a fundamental understanding.
Who are you?
C12 serves Christian CEOs around the world. In North Texas, we have more than 200 members in 27 forums. The local companies involved have thousands of employees and serve millions of customers. We think every one of those lives is precious because of their God-given identity.
Seeing people through the lens of their proper identity often changes our perception of their value. They are more than cogs in a business machine or a sales opportunity.
Is it good business to think this way? Well, it is. We spend time every month in our business forums seeing things God's way. It turns out that applying His ways to business (and life) works best.
We have visitors frequently to our meetings. Let me know, and I will arrange a visit for you. Or, go to https://bit.ly/3yKDtyG for more information.
