How I Convert a Resume from 1 Star to 5 Stars? Here's my short guide: Ditch the Jargon - Simple language for maximum impact. - Speak clearly, not Shakespearean. - Ditch the technical jargon. Clear work history - Keep work history concise and clear. - Chronological order is your best friend. - Highlight key moments, not every detail. Relevant keywords - Identify relevant skills recruiters search for. - Integrate keywords throughout your resume. - Showcase achievements (your greatest hits!). Chunk it up - Break long paragraphs into bite-sized chunks. - Think action-packed music video, not a bedtime story. - Easy to scan and full of impact. C️ertificates - Provide positive proof of your skills. - Focus on relevant certificates showcasing skills. - Quality over quantity - ditch the participation trophies. Your resume deserves a standing ovation, not a thumbs down. Make sure it is delivering your Unique Value. ----------------------------------------------------------------- 📌 I Craft Personalized Career Narratives for IT & Marketing Professionals. 📩 DM me "Level Up" to upgrade your Career Profile. 🔔 Follow Kashaf Noor for daily updates. ----------------------------------------------------------------- #resumewriting #coverletterwriting #linkedInprofileoptimization

🙁 Not getting calls after applying in Naukri.com or LinkedIn jobs? Mind taking a look at your resume again? 🚀 Unlock the Secrets to Crafting the Perfect (almost) Resume! 🚀 In my years of consulting and analytics, one thing which kept popping up during conversations is "what does a good resume look like?". Even after making N number of resumes for myself, I DO NOT know how to make a perfect one!!! However, I did learn a few tips and tricks to make a good one... Here are my top 5s to ensure your resume gets noticed AND remembered! 📝✨ 1️⃣ Eye-Catching Layout: First impressions matter! Using a clean, professional format with clear headings and bullet points makes it to skim; hiring managers often spend just seconds on an initial glance. 2️⃣ Tailor for the Job: One size does NOT fit all. Customize your resume for each job application. Highlight experiences and skills that are most relevant to the position you're applying for. Keywords from the job listing? Use them! 3️⃣ Quantify Achievements: Numbers speak louder than words. Instead of just listing tasks, showcase your accomplishments with quantifiable results. Example: “Increased sales by 25% in Q3” not only shows what you did but how well you did it! 📈✨ 4️⃣ Action Verbs: Start each bullet point with a strong action verb. Words like "Led," "Developed," "Implemented," or "Achieved" convey decisiveness and effectiveness. Avoid overused phrases and focus on impactful storytelling. 5️⃣ Proofread Like a Pro: Attention to detail is critical. Spelling errors, grammatical mistakes, and typos can be deal-breakers. Double-check, use tools like Grammarly, and, if possible, have a friend review it too. BONUS TIP: 🎯 LinkedIn Sync: Ensure your resume and LinkedIn profile are in harmony. Recruiters often cross-check, so consistency in experience, skills, and achievements is key. Let's make your resume the one that hiring managers can't ignore! Here are seven common pitfalls and how to address them. 𝑀𝑖𝑠𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐽𝑜𝑏 𝑅𝑒𝑞𝑢𝑖𝑟𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑠: Applying for a position without matching the required skills is like a sprinter running in a marathon—it doesn't align with their strengths. 𝑆𝑜𝑙𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛: Read descriptions carefully and apply only if you qualify. 𝐹𝑜𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑙 𝐸𝑟𝑟𝑜𝑟𝑠: Typos and grammatical mistakes suggest lack of attention to detail. 𝐴𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛: Proofread multiple times or use tools like Grammarly. 𝐿𝑎𝑐𝑘 𝑜𝑓 𝐷𝑒𝑠𝑖𝑟𝑒: Applying to jobs you're not genuinely interested in often leads to lackluster efforts. 𝐹𝑖𝑥: Only apply to roles that genuinely excite you and match your career goals. 𝐶𝑢𝑙𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑎𝑙 𝑀𝑖𝑠𝑓𝑖𝑡: It's essential that you fit into the company’s culture. 𝑇𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑐: Research the company’s values and environment through their website and social media. 𝐺𝑒𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑐 𝐴𝑝𝑝𝑙𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠: Using the same resume and cover letter for every application won't stand out. 𝑆𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑔𝑦: Customize your documents to match the job description and highlight relevant experiences. 𝐹𝑎𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝑜 𝑆𝑒𝑙𝑙 𝑌𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑠𝑒𝑙𝑓: Clearly explain why you’re the right candidate for the position. 𝐴𝑝𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑎𝑐ℎ: Use specific past achievements to demonstrate your suitability. 𝐼𝑟𝑟𝑒𝑙𝑒𝑣𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑂𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑙𝑜𝑎𝑑: Including unnecessary information can distract from your key messages. 𝑃𝑙𝑎𝑛: Keep your resume concise, focusing only on relevant experiences. Reassess and adjust your application strategy to improve your chances. Addressing these common issues might turn those interview calls into job offers. After all, the goal is to land a job where you can make a significant impact. ✨ Wednesday Wisdom ✨ 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲 As a career coach and resume writer, I've noticed a recurring challenge among job seekers: interpreting job descriptions. 𝙏𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙢𝙚 𝙞𝙨𝙣'𝙩 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙠𝙚𝙮𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙨; 𝙞𝙩'𝙨 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙡𝙮 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙣 𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙤𝙮𝙚𝙧 𝙞𝙨 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧. 📍 Here's a 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶-𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲 to 'read between the lines' and boost your resume's match rate: 1️⃣ 𝖪𝖾𝗒 𝖱𝖾𝗌𝗉𝗈𝗇𝗌𝗂𝖻𝗂𝗅𝗂𝗍𝗂𝖾𝗌 = 𝖸𝗈𝗎𝗋 𝖧𝖾𝖺𝖽𝗅𝗂𝗇𝖾𝗌: When a job description mentions responsibilities, you’ll handle these daily tasks. Highlight similar tasks you've done prominently in your resume. 2️⃣ 𝖱𝖾𝗊𝗎𝗂𝗋𝖾𝖽 𝖰𝗎𝖺𝗅𝗂𝖿𝗂𝖼𝖺𝗍𝗂𝗈𝗇𝗌 = 𝖭𝗈𝗇-𝖭𝖾𝗀𝗈𝗍𝗂𝖺𝖻𝗅𝖾𝗌: The employer considers these skills and experiences essential. If you have them, they MUST be on your resume. 3️⃣ 𝖯𝗋𝖾𝖿𝖾𝗋𝗋𝖾𝖽 𝖰𝗎𝖺𝗅𝗂𝖿𝗂𝖼𝖺𝗍𝗂𝗈𝗇𝗌 = 𝖸𝗈𝗎𝗋 𝖤𝖽𝗀𝖾: Not mandatory, but they give you an advantage. If you possess any, emphasise them. 4️⃣ 𝖢𝗈𝗆𝗉𝖺𝗇𝗒 𝖢𝗎𝗅𝗍𝗎𝗋𝖾 & 𝖵𝖺𝗅𝗎𝖾𝗌: These often hint at soft skills or attitudes they appreciate. For instance, "We value innovation" might translate to them valuing problem-solving skills or creativity. 5️⃣ 𝖠𝖼𝗍𝗂𝗈𝗇 𝖵𝖾𝗋𝖻𝗌: Words like "lead", "manage", "coordinate", and "develop" can give clues about the level of the role and the kind of initiatives you might be driving. 6️⃣ 𝖱𝖾𝗉𝖾𝗍𝗂𝗍𝗂𝗈𝗇𝗌: If a skill or trait is repeated multiple times (even in different ways), it's a big hint about its importance to the role. ❗ Remember, a generic resume might get lost in the crowd. You can position yourself as the perfect fit by decoding job descriptions. Need assistance?
