I build #tech that builds #community

'Lord Darzi’s landmark health plan makes clear why the preventative agenda is central to the future of the NHS and the nation’s health.' That was 2008. It remains a pillar of his new report, released today. That’s important. But there’s frustration. The 2008 vision hasn’t come to pass. How much longer can the NHS carry on with its existing model? Our work with the Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care System, then, is coming at a good time. We launch in Birmingham on Monday.   Soon, we’ll see the community sector across the sub-region getting more resources. These organisations will deliver more preventative health outcomes for local people. I recall speaking to Jake Ferguson (He/Him), then Chief Executive at Hackney CVS, during the pandemic. Anyone who knows the community sector knows it is the perfect delivery partner for local NHS Trusts. But it was the pandemic that forced everyone to see how agile, flexible and responsive the sector could be. As Jake said at the time: ‘Look, you need us now so put the proper investment in, talk to us as equals, have us round the table, don’t bring us in at the last stage of your planning considerations, have us in from the outset. We appreciate your challenges but we know where the pinch points are, the crunch points, the bits of the system that aren’t working.’ Today’s Darzi report should make everyone reflect on the potential of the sector. We know, without question, this model works. How? Because, only a few years ago, it delivered in the most difficult circumstances. So in 2024, let’s not just recognise the VCSE sector as local health partners, but invest in them as such. We’ll be helping the ICS do that in the West Midlands in the coming weeks and months. If you’d like to know more how we're working to deliver better health outcomes, take a look at our Local Social Value, Local Health paper, in the post below.  #community #health #tech

We’re pleased to announce we’re helping the NHS Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care System to make local communities stronger and healthier. We’ll be supporting ICS partners, including the Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust, The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust & University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. This is alongside our existing collaboration with Birmingham City Council and Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, their suppliers and community partners. These organisations, their supplier base and local community partners will be using Match My Project to get new resources into local community projects delivering wider health outcomes. Our founder Dan Ebanks said: ‘We’re grateful for the opportunity to help local partners make Birmingham and Solihull’s local communities stronger and healthier. For as long as I’ve been working with the public sector, community solutions to community healthcare challenges have been part of the conversation. It’s great to finally be doing something about it.  And I’m particularly happy to be doing it in a part of the world where I was made to feel so welcome as a student, many years ago. It’s always great to come back and I’m looking forward to many more trips!’ If you would like to know more, please take a look at our Local Health, Local Social Value paper. 👉 https://lnkd.in/emZbPXar #SocialValue #CommunityHealth #HealthAndWellbeing #NHSPartnerships #PublicSectorInnovation #SocialImpact #LocalCommunities #CollaborativeHealthcare #IntegratedCare #HealthcareInnovation
