Now, on to giving some love, to the “Funner, CA” campaign for Harrah’s Resort and Casino, from the folks at 62ABOVE. Here’s a category that has the advantage of universal understanding. We all know what a casino looks like, and in San Diego’s upscale gaming market, that it’s going to be pretty close to Vegas-level. So, if you want a bump in audience beyond your regulars (who don’t need anyone to remind them to go), reach above slot payout footage, blackjack hits and stock-ish smiley, happy winners. Ante up for “Funner, CA,” a campaign that creates a state of mind from a re-named city inhabited by The Rincon Band of Luiseno Mission Indians. It’s a great way to set up the bigger casino concept of fun that’s wrapped up in fantasy you don’t find most places in life. Hosted by star “mayors” who don’t take themselves seriously, like David Hasselhoff, Jane Lynch, Rob Riggle and Martin Short, and you got yourself a show. THE PSYCHOLOGY OF SUCCESS WITH PARLAYS Every bettor knows the rush you get when your horse wins a race, when you draw 21 in blackjack or when the last leg of your parlay comes in. When you have some success, you want to come back and play again. But if you rarely win, you get discouraged, your bankroll dwindles and you bet less. In short, success makes for a better customer experience and a larger handle for gaming companies. In online sports betting, parlays offer the most attractive risk/reward scenarios, so their popularity with bettors and the profitability for gaming companies are no surprise. What is surprising is how little the gaming companies do to help bettors be more successful with parlays. This is particularly important for non-professional bettors who don’t have the same time, data or experience as the pros. In the design of Wild Card Sports, our Personal Information for Parlay Success (PIPS) has two features to help members be more successful with parlays that are the heart of our game for team sports. The first feature is to provide matchup statistics on the same screen with the Spread, Money Line and Total Points for every game. With a click, the bettor can see at a glance a drop down screen with matchup stats, such as record against the spread at home and away, rushing yards per game (and rank) vs rushing defense (and rank), completions under pressure vs percentage pressure, turnover margin and so forth. With experience, the bettor can customize the list of stats to highlight the ones they feel are most important. The second feature is an analysis of the bettors’ win/loss performance on parlays, including their record against the spread, total points, by team, by props and by number of legs in the parlay. This will help them focus bets on their most successful parlay strategies and see where they need to improve.
