Reminder Updates for UK Health & Care Worker Industry
Calling all overseas migrants and Healthcare Businesses. Are you fully updated with the changes this year on UKVI’s New Immigration rules?
Here’s a quick reminder for you on the critical updates:
👉As of 11 March 2024, newly sponsored care providers in England must now be registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) before sponsoring new care and senior care workers under specific SOC codes.
👉From 4 April 2024, minimum salary requirements have increased. New roles now require at least £23,200 per annum (previously £20,960) or the minimum salary per NHS national pay scales, whichever is higher.
👉Roles not on these scales must meet a general threshold of £29,000 per annum.
👉 Salary changes apply to both new applicants and those extending their visas, emphasising the need for employers to review and adjust their pay structures accordingly.
👉Care workers can no longer bring accompanying dependent family members to the UK.
👉From 22 January 2024 there is an increased Penalties for Non-Compliance with the new Fines increment to £60,000 per illegal worker (up from £20,000)
⚠️Cautions for Employers
➡️Keep track of your sponsored workers' visa expiries and salary details.
➡️Ensure salaries meet new requirements well before visa extensions are required.
➡️The Home Office is conducting more audits in the care sector, including unannounced visits.
➡️Non-compliance can lead to revocation of your Sponsor Licence, collapsing the business.
