MLB star Jonathan India on the paradox of being a great competitor… “As long as I play the game the right way, I compete hard…I stick to the process…the results will take care of themselves” (paraphrased) So what is ‘the process’? 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 It can be broad or it can be narrow. It can be deep or it can be shallow… The process can include performance objectives and can still include a narrative around the outcome. It can include mini mindset objectives…it can include what to do when the going gets tough and what to do if it’s a day in flow… “My job is to stick to my process. Stick to my cues…keep executing my actions on the front-foot…be ready for great self-talk if I need it…let performance happen if feeling great…” The process can be broad and it can be narrow…it can be deep or it can be shallow…ultimately, it’s vital to stick to the process no matter what…

A follow-up post to my last post on curling! My husband and I competed on a team in our club's annual Shamrock Spiel (Bonspiel is a fancy term for a curling competition) this weekend. Upon reflection, there were tons of leadership lessons this weekend. 🥌 Persevere. We lost the second of our 6 games, 12-0. We came back to win the "C" event for the weekend, essentially coming in 3rd out of 12 teams. We could have given up, but we didn't. 🥌 Adapt. The ice changes slightly throughout a game. If you don't adapt, your shots will miss. 🥌 Play to your team's strengths. The best skips call the shots their teammates can make successfully and set up the game's strategy to do so. 🥌 Celebrate the little wins. Especially to help with perseverance. Right after our 12-0 loss, we beat one of the best teams on the ice. We were back in it. 🥌 Don't be afraid to adjust your strategy. In this pic, my husband and I are rapidly having to change our plan for the next stone depending on the rock the other team is delivering. A fun game. A strategic game. With lots of lessons apparently! #goodcurling #leadership #weareelanco

Even the greatest champions like Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz can face unexpected early exits from major Grand Slams like the US Open 2024. This serves as a reminder that setbacks are a natural part of any journey (Professional or Personal), even for the best in the business. In these moments, the role of a coach / mentor / boss becomes crucial. They are the guiding force that helps you stay motivated, offering the perspective and support needed to bounce back. A great leader doesn’t just work on your skills—they work on your mindset, ensuring you don’t lose sight of your goals. As the saying goes, "The comeback is always stronger than the setback." It's not just about what went wrong; it's about having someone to help you identify those areas of improvement and push you to overcome them. With the right guidance, persistence, and a commitment to growth, every setback becomes a stepping stone to a stronger comeback. Remember, champions aren’t made in the absence of failure, but in how they rise above it—with the support of those who believe in them. #Resilience #Leadership #Mentorship #Persistence #Motivation #GrowthMindset #ComebackStronger #ChampionsMindset #NeverGiveUp #PersonalDevelopment #Success #Coaching

You Have The Grit It Takes! The quote by Travis Bradberry perfectly encapsulates the essence of grit! Since I started watching football, thanks to my husband, I've become captivated by the sport. I've seen more matches than I ever imagined possible! 😂 When we discuss resilience, stamina, and energy, it’s all on display as various football teams come alive, striving to outshine one another for victory! The determination to score for your team, the drive to advance through each stage, and beyond! The teamwork, the raw emotions, the adrenaline rush, the pride, and oh, the anticipation! And let's not forget the bets flying around on who’s taking home the trophy. I truly relish every moment! It has been thrilling to watch, and I can confidently say I know much more about football now than when I first started. Cheers to that! I adore the passion radiating from the players, the fans in the stands, the coaches on the sidelines, and even the commentators! Those commentators have a knack for getting you pumped up! There are countless lessons to be learned from these games, but the one that resonates most with me is GRIT! Grit is what differentiates the teams as they steadily progress toward the finals. As we move through each round, the competition narrows until only one champion remains! As teams battle it out, grit is what sets them apart, inching closer to that coveted victory. With 2025 on the horizon, take a moment to reflect on your past year—can you spot your own grit story? 😁 What’s one lesson you’d like to share? I’m all ears! Always Your Personal Encourager! #TheLadyAnchored #ElevateAndThrive #YouHaveTheGritItTakes #GritMindset

𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀. Everyone has a turn to bat and bowl. You discover that you're really good at batting but not so great at bowling. So, you decide to spend more time practicing your batting. Soon, you're hitting more runs and helping your team win games. You feel great, don't you? ----- Now, this is similar to finding what you're good at in life - your strengths. When you focus on these strengths and put all your energy into doing what you do best, you not only become better at it, but you also feel happier and more satisfied. ----- Just like in our cricket game, when you're batting well, you enjoy the game more. The same goes for life. When you do what you're best at, everything feels more enjoyable. This is about knowing yourself, finding what you love and are good at, and then giving it your all. That’s how you truly shine and feel fulfilled. #Creativity #Growth #Thought #Insight #Leadership

In two days, we witnessed back to back 27-point and 40-point runs in the @nba that changed the complete outcome of the games! While coaches don’t always find the solutions to stop momentums through timeouts, tactical changes or substitutions, the real attribute that will help in those situations is to develop their teams’ mindset. Understanding and accepting (vulnerability) that the other team can get hot, while moving forward by refocusing fast on executing the “supposed to be simple stuff” extraordinarily well. One example you can see in this clip? Control fast break by running back on defense, stopping the ball early and not giving up easy points. When you go back to executing fundamentals with a high level of focus, you manage to gain back confidence, and don’t feed any extra confidence to the other team. Other fundamentals to focus on executing at a high level to stop the momentum? Controlling the boards, not giving up second chances. Selecting high percentage shots instead of playing the heroes taking tough (low percentage) ones. Taking pride in bringing the right intensity to win your duals. Controlling the ball and not wasting turnovers by focusing on the right spacing and timing to upgrade the quality of the passes. Being aware of your body language to bring optimism to your teammates. Keeping communication positive, not letting frustration kick in. To list a few… #themindgameofbasketball #emotionalcontrol #championsmindset #playersdevelopment #manageruns #detailsmatter #fundamentals #execution #dontsweatthesmallstuff

Success often seems inevitable in hindsight, but it's the decisions made in the moment that truly shape greatness. Dean Smith, the legendary coach behind Michael Jordan's rise, exemplified this blend of courage and wisdom. In the crucible of competition, Dean Smith didn't just spot talent – he bet on it. With a seasoned eye and unwavering gut instinct, he recognized the potential of a young Michael Jordan and invested in his future. It's a reminder that true success often requires not just talent, but also the courage to trust your instincts and make bold decisions. #DecisionMaking #Leadership #Greatness https://lnkd.in/eM7nWB3E
