Putting Together a CV? CVs that gain more interest are the ones that list achievements over tasks. Don't know what to write? Start with a blank page of paper and write down a list of what you have achieved. You will be surprised at what you have achieved when this is presented to you. Also, refer back to it when you are feeling a little down and disillusioned after receiving a knockback following an interview—it will help you stay positive, knowing that you have made a difference and that you will do it again! Mentally, put these achievements into context - STAR method. Situation, Task, Action & Result. This will help you when you are being interviewed and will help you tell the story of your achievement. Listing your achievements will help your CV stand out and help you communicate with confidence during the interview. I recently shared 5 tips for your CV. There are endless tips, but here is 5 I thought of, which I often think are often quite basic and easy things to change. Overall, the main trouble with writing your CV, is you really don't know who is going to be reading it, or what they like in a CV. Keep it as ready friendly as possible removing any stuff that get's in the way. Keep that in your mind.

Contractor Tip: Have a portfolio in addition to your CV. As a contractor you're essentially a mini business, so it's a great idea to have a document that showcases the successes and notable achievements of your 'business' It shows a hiring manager: 1) Real examples of what's listed on your CV (how you add value) 2) How you solve problems 3) That you're a specialist Clear visual examples presented to a hiring manager in addition to your CV can do wonders in securing interviews / conversations. Something to think about if you haven't got one already.
