Data analyst job descriptions today be like... To be considered for this role, you'll need: ◦ 16+ years of experience with SQL ◦ 5+ years of experience in Tableau or Power BI ◦ 47 years of experience in Excel (time-travel required) ◦ Proficiency in telepathic communication with stakeholders ◦ 4 years of experience taking care of 3 (or more) poisonous snakes ◦ Expertise in mind-reading and translating thoughts into beautiful dashboards ◦ Ability to conduct bi-weekly status meetings to talk about the status of the status meetings * Must meet all criteria to be considered. Cat owners need not apply. JUST KIDDING! Here's the real deal. Job "requirements" are really just a wish list and (most) companies don't anticipate finding someone who fulfills every single one. Apply to roles that are going to stretch your skills and abilities. If you meet 100% of the criteria before you're even hired, I can guarantee you're going to be bored within a year. So even if you think you don't meet the requirements, my advice? Apply anyway. What the worst that could happen? ----- Inspired by Lauren Rosenthal post yesterday

When I got my job at Maven, I would say I met probably 60-70% of the criteria and that means I get to grow and learn every day. So even if you think you don't meet the requirements, my advice? Apply anyway. What the worst that could happen? ----- Inspired by John Pauler's post yesterday

Don't Let the Job Description Scare You Off! I stumbled upon this hilarious job description parody, and boy, does it hit close to home! 😂 Let's be real, some job descriptions out there read more like a wish list for a superhero than a realistic expectation for a mere mortal. 🦸♂️ As a recent post-graduate navigating the job market, I've often encountered job postings seeking years of experience that I simply don't possess yet. Despite this, I still submit applications, even if I only meet about 60-70% of the listed skills and qualifications. It's a reality that achieving a 100% match with the requirements isn't always possible. So, to all my fellow job seekers, especially recent grads, don't let those daunting job descriptions scare you off. 🎓 Apply anyway! Take a chance, because you never know where it might lead. What's the worst that could happen? Let's dive in and take that leap together! #jobsearch #dataanalyst #businessanalyst #jobrequirements #opentowork #ireland

I am a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst, or at least that's what they call me. Different companies seem to have varying ideas about the role. Some think we create visualizations using #Tableau or #PowerBI, others believe we mainly handle #SQL queries and #ETL, while some just want us to keep the IT desk going. The job titles for roles like mine can range from Business Intelligence Analyst to Business Analyst to Data Analyst and more. HR sure has an interesting way of defining our work. 😁 #BusinessIntelligence #DataAnalysis #ITDesk #JobTitles
