You can guess how that ended for the devs, right? Job 2: A shipping and logistics gig that wasn’t remote. The commute was a killer! Job 3: A bank where I focused on mobile banking app development. Sounds promising, but the reality was far from it. In my latest role, I spent over eight months just trying to keep up. It felt like I was drowning in a sea of red flags. I had a rude manager, lacked support, and I wasn't really growing as a developer—more like treading water. My tasks involved technical aspects like API calls and JSON, but I felt lost. Role: API Developer Client: Kroger Fully Remote, need to be in an EST or CST state Visa: USC or GC Perm Measure and track API use, performance, and overall maturity • Collect data from APIs, services, security and observability tools, and repositories • Collaborate with the API Incubation team to reduce onboarding time and time to market • Determine which APIs are making products more secure and perform best • Determine potential vulnerabilities, increase visibility, and propose resolutions • Determine which APIs can be deprecated • Develop using a Contract-first methodology • Model the data for consumption and analysis on a dashboard. This data should be useful to both engineers and non-technical consumers. Basically, this will be heavy integration work. API integration – Kotlin/Java code base.
