Andrew Chen wrote an incredible article on How AI will reinvent marketing.🤖 It broadened my views and perspectives and taught me not to think small, but to think BIG in terms of the application of AI. Do subscribe to his substack if you haven't! With the introduction of AI, the work & cost that is needed to be done for an infinite amount of content & personalisation for each specific target 🎯 audience can be near zero. Marketers would be able to create hyper-localised 🌎 content and messaging for each specific target audience based on AI without much effort. The marketer's job would then be more focused on the strategy, the type of audience and the creative for the campaign. This is currently being experimented with by various organisations. One such example I can think of is Netflix. 📺 Netflix has been using different thumbnail pictures for every show for each person's account. If you are a person who loves watching love dramas, the thumbnail pictures of some shows might include a more love-centric kind of image as compared to someone who watches more action-related kind of shows. Create content with artificial intelligence and still look authentic! Using AI for content creation significantly reduces the time and effort required to produce more content. However, it's important to acknowledge that this type of content is often categorized as average quality. 🔎 You definitely cannot use AI to implement all of those strategies that others use to gain the attention of customers (for example, those hooking strategies in TikTok and Instagram videos). Users are now consuming content at a fast pace, and the important matter is about who can capture attention in a better way. AI cannot do that for you! From my own experience, I've found that focusing on creating one high-quality content (even if it takes much of your time) brings better results than churning out tons of average stuff. However, if you're still keen on using AI, here are some friendly tips: 🟢 Remember, don't let AI take over completely! Keep your unique voice in the mix. For example, if your text is AI-generated, make sure you record the videos yourself to make it look authentic. 🟢 Use AI to spark ideas and lend a hand in content creation. IT'S IMPORTANT that you don't give up with the first answer to your prompt. with AI, it's all about trying out different prompts multiple times to get the best results. 🟢 Leverage AI's strengths for things like keyword research and SEO. Choose words, titles and hashtags with it. 🟢 Always add your personal touch to AI-generated content. Simply, MAKE IT YOUR OWN. 🟢 Bring fresh perspectives and insights that your competitors haven't thought of. 🟢 And most importantly, infuse your content with heart and make it truly resonate with your audience. I love dreaming about the implications of generative AI. Because yes . . . marketing is going to change! Challenge yourself to examine how the work of DMOs could change in the next three years. ❓ If video games can be created instantly, would this become a new 1:1 marketing channel? How could this translate to B2B outreach - could your destination create a game that showcases your non traditional venues to business event planners? ❓If there’s enormous pushback against “perfect” impersonal content, would you lean on less-polished images and videos that don’t feel “produced”? ❓Will live events be the real winner here - not just for B2B channels, but reaching consumers as well? ❓What could your team accomplish with infinite scalability, infinite labor and infinite content? Could you instantly spin up a custom podcast for the meeting planner deciding between two destinations, and spin up a custom short-form video for their client who prefers that format for their content? Can that content have a real-time conversation with the buyers (similar to the in-ad chatbot that Discover Puerto Rico just launched)? ❓And sales professionals should examine the possible convergence of sales and marketing . . . what will it mean for the DMO when all marketing and all sales is 1:1 outreach? I think live events and face-to-face interactions will win again. We will crave that human, imperfect experience. This article is well worth the read. What does a world with infinite labor, infinite content, and mass personalization look like? As #AI permeates our technology products and experiences, we can expect dramatic changes. Andrew Chen wrote a great blog post that delves into both the obvious and the not-so-obvious future effects of AI. In the obvious effects, we are likely to see infinite variations in ad creatives, cheaper content creation across different media, ads embedded within LLM responses, and the use of generative AI to streamline the entire creative process from briefs to final edits.
