Well darn. Just goes to show... “No organization is immune from this type of cyber attack, not even one that strives to maintain the highest cybersecurity possible,” said Jason Providakes, president and CEO, MITRE. “We are disclosing this incident in a timely manner because of our commitment to operate in the public interest and to advocate for best practices that enhance enterprise security as well necessary measures to improve the industry’s current cyber defense posture. The threats and cyber attacks are becoming more sophisticated and require increased vigilance and defense approaches. As we have previously, we will share our learnings from this experience to help others and evolve our own practices.” "Based on our investigation to date, there is no indication that MITRE’s core enterprise network or partners’ systems were affected by this incident." #ImOnIt #cybersecurity #womenincybersecurity #breach #mitreattack #nationstate #cyberattack

Are your test/dev, or "R&D", or "demo/PoC" environments built and managed with the same security protocols and standards as the rest of your infrastructure? They definitely should be, but it's not surprising even in 2024 to see these environments built and/or maintained with more lax security standards and practices than the prod environments. EVERYTHING should be built securely. And if it's not needed, or it's not being maintained to the same security hygiene as the rest of your core infrastructure, trash it! I've seen demo/test environments connected to prod networks over the years that had literally not been used (and certainly not patched/updated) in YEARS (either they were forgotten/orphaned, or nobody even realized they were there). #cybersecurity

Not using AMTD is a little like being under direct fire, ducking and reemerging in the same exact place. Not a good plan for surviving the next shot. The basic principles of "fire and movement", "high mobility" and other warfare terms are useful in your security posture analysis and planning. If I was a defender again, I would look towards Dispersive's spread spectrum, rolling encryption innovations to protect site to site, device to site etc. networks, I would also deploy AMTD in depth, solutions from Ridgeback Network Defense, Arms Cyber and Nexitech. A short stack of AMTD solutions which help block and expose attackers will make you a much less attractive target. Your actual alerts will be of higher fidelity and your team will be more effective. Take back the initiative in this fight!
According to Gartner, “Automated moving target defense (AMTD) solutions make things much more difficult and more costly for cyberattackers. They change the traditional “static” nature of IT environments by proactively and continuously making changes within the environment to confuse, disrupt and block attackers. “ But how can you make a quantum improvement in your networking security and overall cybersecurity posture without a forklift? Get a copy of the Gartner report to learn about AMTD solutions and how they can help you get defense in depth without the operational headache. https://lnkd.in/gENysqca #amtd #cybersecurity #stealthnetworking #defenseindepth
