In a recent news article, there were close to 2,000 reports in 2023 regarding Android malware apps installed on victims’ phones that siphoned their personal information, eventually leading to the loss of up to $34m altogether. This even included unauthorised withdrawal of their CPF savings. Solution: Never download apps or click on links from suspicious websites, or from people you don’t really trust. Be wary of such phishing links from unverified sources. Trust only online sources that you know to be credible.
