Monday Blues? Let's Talk About It! Share Your Experiences Too!
So, I go first. Back when I was a dedicated office goer (now we have WFH policies too), I would stare at my alarm list every Monday morning. My alarms would start ringing at 4:30 am, and it used to take several snoozes attempts before I finally get out of the bed. My tone used to be tired, I used to murmur, "Today is Mondaayyy." These three words used to feel heavier than my laptop bag. Can anyone relate?
I always wondered, why does Monday seem like such a mountain to climb? It’s not just me, right? We’ve all been there. The weekend freedom, late-night movie marathons, brunches that turn into dinners – all of it feels so distant on a Monday morning.
But here’s what I think now: maybe it’s not about dreading Mondays, but about shifting our perspective.
I tried this one Monday, and it worked for me: Instead of diving straight into emails at the office, I started with a small chat with my colleagues about their weekends. We shared laughs and stories, and suddenly, the mood lifted. It wasn’t just another Monday anymore; it was a fresh start.
I also began incorporating little joys into my Mondays. Ordering tea and snacks from Chaayos, wearing a bright outfit from O&Y or local shopping, or even planning a post-work hangout at workplace cafes. These small changes made a big difference.
We often forget that we have the power to redefine our experiences.
Monday is just a day, like any other. It’s our attitude that makes it daunting or delightful.
So here’s my tip for beating the Monday blues: find your tiny pockets of joy and embrace them. Whether it’s a good laugh, a favorite song, or a motivating quote, let it be your Monday mantra.
Let’s turn those "Today is Monday" sighs into smiles. Who’s with me?
