In my time here at Menlo Security Inc., I have discovered the ostrich effect is alive and well when it comes to the well known cyber attacks - #phishing and #ransomware. Many an organization have a false sense of security because they have bought a SASE, SSE, email security, EPP, and or EDR solution. They have checked a box and moved on. And yet EVERY SINGLE DAY I scan the cybersecurity news and EVERY DAY there is news of yet another successful attack on enterprises and governments around the world. Yet another organization compromised, damaging the company, the industry, and their customers and stakeholders. Threat actors are not lazy. They are not complacent. They are not limited. They are smart. They are motivated. And they have access to some of the most advanced, AI-powered tools in existence. And they use that against their targets. EVERY DAY. Our labs teams have produced our latest report the dives deep into the increasing sophistication and alarming prevalence of attacks - highly evasive attacks - by nation state actors. These are attacks that are DESIGNED to bypass typical security solutions - including modern MFA solutions as well as firewalls, SWGs, email security, EPP, and EDR. The report with show how over 25% of malicious links clicked by users pass UNDETECTED through signature based security solutions, including those leveraging AI capabilities. The report is available below, and I urge you to give it a read to see just how these attacks have evolved and just how sophisticated they are. https://lnkd.in/gS9DVbks

NEW report from #MenloSecurity 📢❗🚨 Nation-state cyber attacks are on the rise and traditional security tools aren't enough. Our latest report is a must-read for anyone concerned about protecting their organization from these evasive attacks, capable of bypassing MFA using Adversary in the Middle (AiTM) kits. "We're too small to get a cyber attack..." ...What if I told you, the threat actors don't know its you? 😮 Following on from yesterday's One Billion bombshell, let's get a better understanding of how Threat Actors identify their targets! (The "For dummies" version, because I am not a technical expert!) 🕶 It's a bit like the Matrix, they don't see the girl in the red dress, Agent Smith, a multi national conglomerate or small local business... They see numbers! 🤖 Scanners/Bots are searching the world wide web using search engines like Shodan & Censys, looking for devices that are exposed to the internet they can exploit and firing out payloads hoping that something sticks! 🖥 When something sticks, they exploit it, steal or encrypt your valuable data, and threaten you to pay up or lose it! Neo might have been a hacker, but the real life hackers can't see the internet like he can! Unless it's a specific targeted attack after a certain business, they just see you as a number and have no idea who you are until they're in! So should you invest in cyber security as a small business? I would! #informationsecurity #technology #CyberCrime #SmallBusiness

Cybersecurity is a pressing issue that affects businesses of all sizes. Threat actors are merciless and will stop at nothing to take down their targets. Even large enterprises like Microsoft, with massive IT security budgets, are not immune to attacks. This means that small businesses with limited IT security resources are just as vulnerable. It's important to take proactive measures to protect your business from cyber threats. Don't be the next victim. #cybersecurityawareness #ITsecurity #smallbusiness #Microsoft

#UnpopularOpinion Instead of telling employees to stop clicking on stuff ... How about ... click on everything you want because ... * We've built a robust cyber security platform * It costs 10% of the annual profits of our business which is why your payrise wasn't as big * The vendors have told us it is best-in-class * It's military-grade * It has (insert one of these AI/Quantum/magic elves) * It's next-generation so we're ok ... ... oh wait we can't do that can we ... because ... a) "it isn't tuned" b) zerodays c) APT<insert random-number here> d) cyber is hard The reason that an attack is successful is not the user, it's the systems that failed the user.
