New post up on Substack! In March, a large police raid hit a compound in Tarlac Province and found a sophisticated scam operation working under the cover of a licensed online gaming operator. This follows several other high-profile raids that have occurred since mid-2023 that found more than 5,000 workers, more than half of whom were foreigners. 🎺 NEWS ON VICTORY 🏰 The Australian Federal Police (AFP) announced on Wednesday the arrest of an alleged mastermind behind Ghost, an encrypted communication platform used exclusively by criminals. The arrest was made possible through international law enforcement efforts known as ‘Operation Kraken.’ According to an AFP press release, a 32-year-old man from New South Wales has been charged with creating and managing Ghost, an encrypted communication platform allegedly designed solely for criminal use. Australian broadcaster ABC News reported that the charged man is Jay Je Yoon Jung. By day, Jung worked for his parents’ commercial cleaning business, but by night, he is alleged to have been the mastermind behind Ghost. Police believe that Jung created Ghost nine years ago, when he was 23. They allege that the platform has been used by the criminal underworld to facilitate serious crimes, including drug trafficking, money laundering, contract killings, and threats of violence. According to the police, the app has been favored by Italian gangs in Victoria, bikies in Western Australia, and Middle Eastern organized crime syndicates in New South Wales. Jung reportedly used a network of resellers to provide specialized handsets to criminals worldwide. These handsets, which were modified smartphones with his app installed, were sold for approximately 2,350 Australian dollars. This price included a six-month subscription to an encrypted network and technical support. As of September 17, the AFP alleged that there were 376 active handsets in Australia. Tech execs who fail to stop dangerous and illegal knives being advertised on their platforms will be held personally liable under plans announced by the government this week. To combat the unacceptable use of social media and online marketplaces to market illegal weapons and glorify violence, senior executives of social media companies will face personal fines if they fail to remove illegal content swiftly. In a consultation published this week, proposals include giving police the power to issue notices to senior executives of online companies, ordering them to remove specific pieces of content – potentially within two days. If the company fails to act on this, the police will send a second notice to the senior executive in that company, who would then be personally liable for a significant fine if they too fail to act. This is the latest step to meet the government’s pledge to halve knife crime over the next decade. #putdownpullup #antiknifecrime #youthempowerment UK Home Office #crimeprevention #uknews Steel Warriors

Facts: 1) There is nothing called rotation visa, if something like that happened - criminals 2) No one gives access to personal email address - someone might have hacked and made false propaganda - criminals 3) Stealing of identity documents or experience letters means they are just thieves - criminals In simpler terms - 4 or 5 hackers mushtia targeted one person. Obviously mind reading equipment would mean, corrupted law enforcement would succumb to mushtia propaganda.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐁𝐲 𝐍𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐥 𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐡𝐚𝐧 Telegram’s recent policy shift, following the arrest of its CEO Pavel Durov, has sparked a global debate over privacy, security, and the balance between free speech and law enforcement. Telegram, once a stronghold for user privacy, known for resisting government surveillance, has made a sharp U-turn by deciding to share users’ IP addresses and phone numbers with authorities under certain circumstances. This decision is driven by the platform’s growing association with criminal activities, including terrorism, child exploitation, and drug trafficking, which authorities argue have been facilitated by Telegram’s lax content moderation. #EuropeanPoliceChiefs are calling for #industry and #governments to take urgent action to ensure #publicsafety across #socialmedia #platforms. Privacy measures currently being rolled out, such as end-to-end #encryption, will stop tech companies from seeing any offending that occurs on their platforms. It will also stop law enforcement’s ability to obtain and use this #evidence in #investigations to prevent and prosecute the most serious crimes such as child sexual abuse, human trafficking, drug smuggling, homicides, economic crime and terrorism offences. The #declaration, published today (21.4.24) and supported by #Europol and the European Police Chiefs, comes as end-to-end encryption has started to be rolled out across Meta’s messenger platform. direct link: https://lnkd.in/dq_pFJvW

Note: serious investigation of such resources is carried out jointly with law enforcement agencies Found an interesting onion site, haven't seen it before They provide escort and prostitution services, there is even the possibility of buying someone out if they like someone and the “client” wants to keep them forever They also have a mini-forum there, where they offer appropriate live broadcasts with children and other such things. Later found out some rules, they are ready to video call under certain conditions, like even prepayment is not required, but there are some nuances there. Looks credible, although, as practice shows, most of such resources are fake. So I have no illusions and so far I think that this is a scam. But I have not yet found any mentions of deception in the clearnet either Interesting, I will watch, as Russia has also been mentioned there. #osint #cyberintelligence

Are NSW Police keeping up with technology? The many women who contact our practice at Redfern Legal Centre indicate there is a pressing need for NSW Police to keep ahead of advancing technology and how technology is used to stalk and intimidate and to respond more effectively. The woman I provide advice to tell a similar story. They go into a police station to report online stalking and intimidation via technology, and the NSW Police either tell them it is a civil action or there is not much they can do about it because they can't track the source. While I acknowledge the complexities of tracing the source and prosecuting these acts in the realm of advancing technology, the current police response is undeniably disempowering. We must strive for a more supportive and effective response, one that doesn't leave the reporter feeling abandoned. At the very least, police should be providing those who report such alleged crimes with e-safety information and what evidence is required to progress a potential charge. It is imperative that NSW Police equip their frontline officers with comprehensive guidelines and Standard Operation Procedures to effectively combat these actions. Failure to do so sets a perilous precedent, one that could potentially endanger countless people.
