CultureFire had the pleasure of working with Ison Family Restaurants on June 25th, supporting them in rolling out their new cultural program to all of their shift leaders. Everyone played ALL IN at their event, creating teamwork and fun while learning about the new Values, Mission and Vision messages to unite the whole organization. Ison already has an extraordinary culture and leadership in Leigh Chamness and company, but they are committed to always improving! What a great team to work with. #EC #companyculture #employeerelations #franchise #mcdonalds #Ohio

We recently had a chat with Therese Frangie Jayawardene, Mad Mex’s CEO to find out about how the business approaches professional development. Mad Mex Fresh Mexican recently took out the number 1 overall position in the 2023 Topfranchise awards so I was keen to find out a bit more about their secrets to success! Therese chats about the Mad Mex Leadership Excellence Program that was developed in partnership with personal development mastermind Julie Spring and championed by Mad Mex's founder Clovis Young. Therese talks about how the company advocates for extreme ownership, a concept derived from a book of the same name by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin, which is all about owning whatever comes your way and not pointing fingers when faced with various challenges within day-to-day business operations. We also enjoyed hearing about how Mad Mex's annual conferences create a connection between personal and professional development, and in recent years have involved everything from ice baths through to meditation and mindfulness. Also included in the annual conferences are discussions on how to be a better business operator and tips on how to strengthen the Mad Mex team as a key concept for the business is ‘the stronger our people are, the stronger our business is’. What do you think of Mad Mex's approach to personal and professional development? How do you see personal and professional development interconnecting with each other? #CEO, #professionaldevelopment #topfranchise #extremeownership #franchise

As leaders, it's crucial to evolve beyond the traditional command-and-control approach. Our role is to foster a culture where asking the right questions, offering support, and removing obstacles enable our teams to thrive. I went on a cruise. And of course it gave me a unique perspective on leadership growth, specifically, work-life balance. Look, if you want to be an effective leader, you have to model the behaviors you want to see in your people. And making space for rest and relaxation is needed. Cruises, with their scheduled ports of call and leisurely days at sea, have reminded me of the importance of pacing ourselves in our careers. Just as a ship balances time between the excitement of exploring new destinations and the tranquility of days at sea, leaders must balance the demands of work with the need for rest and rejuvenation. This equilibrium is crucial for sustaining long-term motivation and creativity, both for us and our teams. What adventure are you off to next? #leadership #businessgrowth #teamdevelopment #franchise #executivecoaching #qsr #franchising

Being focused and truly present in the moment is key to listening and communicating effectively. Yesterday, Greg Nathan gave me the chance to work with senior leaders, including general managers and executives from different companies, to facilitate important conversations and share experiences. When leading discussions with experienced people, it’s crucial to really listen so you can understand and share their insights with the entire group. This day was about more than just us—it was about how these conversations could impact not just Australia and New Zealand, but also the world over the next decade. Imagine how many franchise owners, their teams, and families could benefit from this. That’s why I agreed to work with Greg—to take a step forward in my mission to improve the lives of franchisees. I’m really grateful to Greg, Terri and team, and all the senior leaders who shared their insights and stories. I look forward to contributing in any way I can in the future. One thing I took away from a convo with Chris Ravlich and Anthony (Tony) Eastaughffe is while numbers and data are the building blocks of a business, things like team motivation, communication, and behavior are the glue that holds it all together. Which is more important? That's for you to decide #Leadership #Franchising #Impact #Gratitude #ANZ #GlobalChange #FranchiseSuccess #MissionDriven #BusinessGrowth #Teamwork
