Ms Angie Chen (EMBA 2021), a remarkable entrepreneur and co-founder of Shenzhen Weis Intelligent Healthy Management Co. Ltd. and at the same time our MBA Industry Master, had led our third Director’s Table. With her extensive background in finance and accounting, Angie brings a unique perspective to the world of entrepreneurship in the F&B sector. Angie highlighted two key insights that resonated with the MBAers at the exclusive table – 1️⃣ Distinct Path of Entrepreneurship: Angie emphasized that entrepreneurship stands apart from the traditional corporate world. Unlike the structured environment of banks or leading corporations, there is no predetermined formula for entrepreneurial success. 2️⃣Dynamic F&B Market in Asia: Angie highlighted the ever-changing nature of the F&B market, particularly in Asia. Within China alone, different regions showcase diverse demographic landscapes and varying dietary habits and preferences. Savvy directors in the F&B industry must keenly identify these nuances and tailor their business plans. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Ms Chen for sharing her invaluable experiences with us at the Director's Table. Director's Table is an exclusive series at #CUHKMBA that brings C-suite elites to engage on a personal level with our MBAers in an intimate dinner setting. #DirectorsTable #Entrepreneurship #F&B #Leadership #BusinessGrowth

𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 Last week was a good week. Not having seen him since before the pandemic, I met KP Ho twice. KP is not only one of Singapore's most enlightened and successful entrepreneurs he is also one of our most outstanding public intellectuals. Over the weekend I read Aaron Low's book "Behind the Banyan. Ho Kwon Ping on building a global brand." Thanks to Aaron's writing style, it is a pleasure to read. Thanks to his conversations with KP, this concise book constitutes nothing short of an EMBA for anyone interested in how to build and sustain a business. KP's honesty shines through both in terms of talking openly about his business failures and successes and in telling you exactly what he thinks on any subject posed to him. Here are a few takeaways:- 🦉 You can and must bounce back from failure. It takes true grit; that is, resilience. Having the right life partner is key as is having the right business partners. 🦉 Innovation is critical to survival for every business. Nothing stays the same for long nor should you expect it to. 🦉 Address your customers' real needs and wants to achieve innovative breakthroughs. 🦉 New is not always good; never prioritize the new over the customers' needs and wants. 🦉 Always strive to anticipate needs rather than to react to them. That way you can stay ahead of the competition and enhance your brand. 🦉 Mean what you say and do what you mean - especially as regards managing and leading people. Take care of your teams in good and bad times. 🦉 Do good for people and for the environment because it is the right thing to do for you and for your business. Lift up, help and develop your team members and the communities in which you and they live and work. Respect the natural environment which sustains us all. It is rare to find a businessman like KP who is as articulate and as insightful as he is honest. That is because KP is a secure human being and Aaron has done full justice to him in this meaningful and thought provoking book. #responsiblebusiness #positiveoutcomes #entrepreneurship #leadershipbyexample Banyan Group Singapore International Chamber of Commerce

The not-so-secret ingredient to building a business that will go the distance is passion and purpose 🔥💪 The world moves fast. Both technology and consumer behaviors are constantly evolving. To keep up, you need to have something that drives you. Success may look like it happens overnight but in reality, you’ve been working towards that moment for a long time. I first got involved with restaurants because of my father and that early exposure showed me first-hand how hard it is to survive in the restaurant industry. It was never about a short-term save but rather finding a solution to help these businesses thrive. It’s that passion and purpose that keeps me going. If you have a true purpose, the rest will follow so keep going and don’t give up. What is the purpose or passion that drives you? I’d love to hear about it. 🌟 **Professional Insight for Young Executives and Entrepreneurs** 🌟 In the fast-paced world of business and entrepreneurship, it's easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of commitments and responsibilities. However, it's crucial to distinguish between the two. “ Paying bills is not a commitment but a responsibility “ This powerful statement reminds us that while responsibilities are necessary obligations, commitments are the driving force behind our ambitions and goals. For young professionals, especially in the dynamic markets of Asia, understanding this distinction is key to achieving sustainable success. 🔹 Responsibilities are the foundation – they keep us grounded and ensure our daily operations run smoothly. 🔹 Commitments are the fuel – they propel us forward, pushing us to innovate, grow, and achieve our long-term visions. By focusing on our commitments, we harness our passion and direct our energies toward meaningful progress, beyond just fulfilling obligations. Let's prioritize our commitments to create impactful and lasting success. #Leadership #Entrepreneurship #YoungExecutives #ProfessionalGrowth #AsianMarket #BusinessInsights #CommitmentToSuccess #vishnuannapareddy #aglasia
